EDIT:

Better yet: http://www.theplaceforitall.com/googlex/

EDIT2:

I've read are that it was taken down due to rumors of possible legal action from Apple. Someone tell me how that infringes on Apple's technology? It's javascript, that simply zooms an icon in on mouseover. That's it. For crying out loud Apple let's this site, dock software, my software, etc. go fine, why would they care about this?

pff... Many people b*tch about micro$oft... but Apple is really the demon here...

Apple's litigious defense of its user interface look and feel - which goes back almost twenty years to Digital Research's DOS version of GEM, then its lawsuits against Microsoft and HP over Windows 2.03 and New Wave, right through to skinning sites who dare even post a screenshot of anything that looks like Mac OS X Aqua - is very widely known.

And yes, there are a lot of mirrors of that page, and I will NOT post any, just in case, to avoid Apple begin a demand to me (or something more painless, a Mod edit my post).

Sad but true.

this is a modded version by Shiwej....

It looks and works 100% better than the original by Google. This one is made to emulate the Dock look and feel even more.

It does not work on all browsers. :slant:

I have tried it on FireFox and it works great. :D

PS. Im sure this is what they ment by I've seen better. :D

How VERY, VERY wrong you are. That is slow in IE and FF, and renders horribly as well. I've seen WAY better, with 100% FF and IE compatibility, as well as Safari. Like I said, everyone will find out in due time, and I guarantee you will be more than amazed.

That's all I can say. For those of you who know what I'm talking about, shhhhh.....

Actually that's completely just a rumor... the leading theory which makes the most sense is that Google Labs (look at their FAQ) says that they may take down pages that attract a lot of traffic and use too much bandwidth. GoogleX was quite the attraction for everyone on the internet and undoubtedly did exactly that.
