[Help] High squeeking

Hi,

This might sound really odd, but when ever my computer is in the process of thinking/loading on the odd occasion (starting to happen more often now) there is a high pitched squeek I can hear  :slant:

I'm really confused as to what is the cause of it, even louder squeek when i use the scroll wheel on my mouse. I've tried listening to where the sound is coming from, so far towards the rear of the case...could it by my CPU or graphics card?

maybe the mouse is squeaky...

the scroll wheel i mean ;)

it could be your HDD, but i've never heard a squeak, only clicks

first, i assume you mean squeal as opposed to squeak. a squealing sound means that a component on your mobo is starting to strain and fail. what kinda temps you running? might help if you could get things a little cooler in there...

yeah squeal, :D

current temps (°C)

Case: 27

CPU: 45

PWM: 34

is it electrical or mechanical? is it like metal scraping (could be hard drive) or an electrical whine (could be mosfets)?

it could also be a dirty fan. it could be anything. disconnect everything and boot up, and see if the noise returns. power down and connect one component. check and repeat.

Right, I've mainly given a lot of the fans a good cleaning, and so far...no squealing *touch wood*

Temperatures have also dropped,

Case: 26

CPU: 41

PWM: 30

Thanks guys.

edit:

It's started up again, just as i've come off Counter strike source. I'll try the re-building peice by peice tomorrow.
