Smoots For Gnome2 - Metacity, Osx Button Alighment

Hi all!

If you want an OSX style button alighment in Gnome2, download this style and follow the instructions!

(very simple...)

SCREENSHOT!

Download style...

Untar your /$HOME/.themes directory...

and follow this readme or compressed readme in the .tar file...

README!!!

If you want an OSX like Metacity button alighment, follow these steps...

1. open terminal and type.: gconf-editor

2. in the gconf-editor window select the top of tree "apps" -> "metacity" -> "general" item.

3. select the button_layout.

4. rigt click on it, and select "edit key..."

5. edit the key as follow.:: "close,maximize,minimize:menu"

6. if your titlebar button not changed logoff and logon again.

7. ENJOY!

Thanks roberTo, i'd been trying to work out how to do that in the theme, obviously i was looking in the wrong place

Theres a simple way to make a dock in gnome:

Look At This

I made mine by creating a sliding panel, using goku's background for mobydock (look at the first page of the dx announcemen i think). Once you think you've got it right, you can remove the hide buttons on the end.

This isn't a very good solution as the only way to now add more programs is to create a new panel and shift everything across to it <_<

It still looks good though (at least i think)

RoberTo's dock is much nicer cause it has a separator and looks like you could add stuff to it.

Hi All!

If you remove the hide buttons? and problem how to add launcher in the panel?

Add program to panel very easy!!!

Push left shift+alt buttons, and drag the launcher in the panel.

is there a way to access the properties for the dock as well?

If the dock is covered in icons there is no space to right click on the dock background, you just bring up the right click menu for individual launchers instead.

And how did you get a separator?

Is it a null launcher?

Hi!

Yes the separator is null launcher...

And the panel preferences is not work

Only one way .)

goto /root/.gconf/apps/panel/profiles/default/panels/xxxxxxxx/%gconf.xml and search the

and write value="true"

save it and push ctrl+alt+backspace. (restart X do not logoff and logon)

I think its probably quicker just to make a new panel and drag stuff across to it if you want properties, but thanks for the info anyway.
