Aqua-Soft ForumsI bought a Japanesse keyboard for my pc... I still dont know wtf those scribbles mean, but hopefully its gonna help me learn japanesse faster... ^^ I already learned like 300 of those kanji symbols, and now trying to learn the hiragana alphabet

I dont think it will realy help at all because i realy doubt that a key on the keyboard coresponds to the english chaircter.
They don't, for example, the character on the "B" key is for the "ko" sound.
How could you live with such a small space bar???????

first you learn hiragana, then katakana and kanji comes last.
good luck though, the way ur doing it, ur gonna be really lucky if you learn japanese properly.
you can learn a lot of oral japanese through social and entertainment. go watch anime and date a japanese girl. japanesse keyboards can help if you are going to type japanese

We have had this before, such abbreviations can offend some Japanese members. Spanish speakers dont go calling americans "gringos" around the boards, do they?
Anyway, this is just a precaution, no need for a discussion here about it.
Ps: there is no way youll nearn Japanese only by typing in such keyboard, hell, i'd be the arabic master if that was teh case..

i was gonna say that too. i dont understand the steps you are going about to learn japanese.

however, there is no subsistute for drilling, and actually taking a class. that keyboard looks nasty btw.

people people, i bought it not only to learn japanese, but also so its easier to work for me design-wise, cause i'm sick of opening up charmap everytime i need a japanese character...

learning japanese on your own... lots and lots of good luck with that, I do recommend first studying hiragana , then katakana and only then kanji. i know a bit of japanese myself (i study chinology, japanese also next year but have learned some on my own already) , but i wouldn't recommend learning it through the computer, it's nice if you can type some but the best way to learn is to write write write. if you're serious about learning japanese contact me and i'll let you know what books we use at university to study japanese
