first, try non-OEM fonts, as OEM fonts only have a basic character set.
Anyway I had to do drop support for Unicode because it would prevent graphical characters from being shown.
Do the standard console work for you? If yes, try to use the same fonts in VirtualConsole (Lucida Console for example). I'm afraid but I have no problems here so it's difficult to understand what's going on.
Hi, thanks for this great desklet.
I have encounter a problem, I modified the PATH parameter but the desklet's PATH is still the same, no matter I remove it then add it again, but the PATH is correct if I launch RUN -> CMD.
However, the desklet is working OK if a reboot has been done.

In Windows, changes to environment variables don't affect processes that are already running. Please note that a desklet is not a separate process, it is part of the AveDesk process. This means that you have to shut down and restart AveDesk for changes to take effect, it's not enough to remove and re-add the desklet.

Thanks for the reply, I have tried to modify the PATH then shutdown AVEDESK and re-launch it again, however the PATH is still the same.
Anyone has the same problem? It's not a big deal thought, a reboot is not a problem for me. It may be just a bug need to be fixed, VirtualConsole or AveDesk?

Hey Everyone with laptops!
I just figured out how to get the Virtual Console to work with your Synaptics Touchpads!
Simply open up the SynTPEnh.ini file (Default location: C:Program FilesSynapticsSynTP) and add the following lines of code anywhere.
[AveDesk]SF= 0x10000000
SF |= 0x00004000
You will need to stop and restart your touchpad drivers (you can kill the processes in Task Manager and restart them) to see the effects.

anyway, is there anothe way to get this to work with touchpad? and if so what can it do :-)?

Small usability improvement:
Try to implement the Apply Button handling on the config dialog - each time you catch some user edit, call the PropSheet_Changed macro so that the Apply button becomes available. Since you are already handling PSN_APPLY notification, your task is almost done...

Synaptics is the largest producer of touchpads for most laptops.
I'm guessing that Sony has a similar driver system. You'd just have to look around in the configuration files. I just copied this from the extra code that I had to add to get Opera to work properly.
can u please post a screen and try to explain what it is that this puppy can do for members like me, so that we (I) can understand what it is that this thread is about.
granted this is an enhancement, but if I han a greater understandablility, I can attempt to apply what it is that, what this thread is based from.

If it's about the virtual console, the desklet allows you to run a shell (the old definition of shell) right on your desktop. It allows access to command line functions without having to go to Start->Run->cmd.
If it's the touchpad drivers, then it has to do with the ability to scroll within the console. When the virtual console was first released, I was unable to scroll up and down using my touchpad. I found that this was because my drivers didn't reckognize AveDesk as a "scroll-able" application. By adding the mentioned code, I was able to tell my touchpad drivers to scroll for AveDesk, and thereby allow scrolling within the virtual console.
Hope that all makes sense.

the touchpad functionality, I can use the virtual console for my C++ compiler for class. I just did not understand what you were discussing regarding the touch pad.

After playing a bit with this great desklet, I've managed to get a BASH console instead of the default windows one by running cygwin. Thus it should be possible to run at least some of the linux IRC console clients on the desktop. I've only given BX a short run, but it looks like it did connect to a server.all we need is an irc client that runs under the console...I know some on linux, but on windows...
I can try to post a more thorugh description of how to archieve this, if people still are interested? (Note: Installation of cygwin and getting it to run on the desktop, you get to play around with BX yourself for now, as I haven't configured it properly yet)
PS. BX is an abbrevation of a known client, the forum just censors the name of it.

I'm afraid, but I'm really too busy. I don't think I'll be able to put my hands on VC at least for the next two months... :slant:
I like this desklet even more since I am a Linuxer (!)
OK, I'm a CoLinuxer - Linux runs as a service on my Windows 2000 box and I can access it by this desklet - just download and follow the instructions found here.
This app is a minimal ssh client (secure shell)- I came across it because I didn't want to open the telnet server and 2000 didn't have a ssh client... And it runs inside Virtual Console.
One thing: This app defines the termcaps of Cygwin, which isn't known by a standard bash, so it might refuse to scroll, clear the screen and more.
To the rescue, just type the following in your console:
export TERM=xterm
midnight commander'll look jagged but anything else should go.
