WindowsBlinds or Style XP

Hi. I am wondering whether I should use Style XP or WB

I heard that Style XP is more stable and uses less system resources but WB looks better. I was wondering if WB (*the new version) no longer needs so many system resources and whether it will significantly slow down my comp. Thanks

I use windowsblinds I dont have a problem with system resources. I like it better than style xp

I would never use Style XP since you can use the Neowin UXTheme Patcher for free.

WindowBlinds works great on my system, but other members have complained about having trouble with their installations, so don't shell out cash until you know that it works.

Also look up Styler. It uses UXThemes, but also lets you have Macintosh Toolbars in Explorer. Search for it here. It is 17 USD or 1500 Yen.

The programs are inherently different. StypeXP makes use of default Windows technology (it's just a program to help you implement .MSSTYLES), while WB extends it.

Use WB...you can achieve the same effect of StyleXP for free. Search Google and the forums for more info.

The winning ticket in WindowBlinds is the per-application settings.

why searching when they can start a new thread Magbi? ;)

seriously, as much as i wanna be nice, search the damn forums.

it`s not like this is AS' first year and there were no previous discussions on this subject.

But you can't find this in any other (previously posted) threads:

I prefer.....STYLER!!!!

I am perfectly happy with the patched uxtheme.dll. Most good WB themes get VS ports.

I also like to keep system resources used to a minimum.

I like uxtheme.dll

I had wb demo for some time and I hated it. I just didn't like the feel to it. I had stylexp demo but when it expired I luckly found uxthemepatcher.

I think styler would be really cool. I'm gonna try and get my hands on that demo (i've heard its got really slow download speed currently) and take it for a spin.

styler > crappy wb > ****ty stylexp

This has indeed been answered many times... in most cases wb actually uses less resources then stylexp/defualt windows theming service.. for example.. on my computer wb is currently using 1,100 kb of memory... a drop in the ocean to anyone with more than 64 mb of ram :P

It really comes down to your personal preference. WB ability to use per application skinning is one of its greatest assets. So you can have explorer windows set to look like finder, firefox windows set to look like safari and all other windows set to look like the "coccoa apps" in OSX.

Did i mention it uses no resources :P:D

WB the better for people who search a reel skinning of Windows...Just WB, style or skin, more closer of a Mac...More reel feeling Mac, with glyph at left, and other... Also easy to use than StyleXP..Used less resources than StyleXP (try it and test it seriously) Finally i think he skin Windows with more details, not just a new image or style, but give a reel new feeling. I agree, all is in personal preference :)
