Note to all 3G iPod users - READ THIS!

My romance with Apple has just been given a new super boost!

Why?

Well remember how dissed we all felt when Apple released 4G and all the cool new software features were left out for us? Remeber how we wished they added that to our "updated firmware"? How angry we felt?

WELL NOT ANYMORE!!!!!!!

I just spent 6 hours whipping my puny dial up to dload 42.9 megs of the 2005-22-02 Updater in hope that it would contain other, sorely missed features (besides the "Shuffle in main menu" that was listed). For example, the advanced On-the-Go playlist options that almost made me sell my baby and buy a 4G.

AND YES IT WORKS!

My 15giger has just been given a confidence boost with ALL the software features of a 4G! I am in love again :D

So yes it DOES have multiple O-T-G playlists, it CAN delete songs from them (by holding the central button), it can have shuffle in the main menu (big deal :P I don`t wanna listen to my dirty pleasures (a la Chritina Aguilera :P) after some experimental, psychotic music i love so much) and it does look like a 4G (menu structure like - Music instead of Browse).

I can`t confirm the audiobooks parts (cause i have none) but i think that might have been done too. One thing i also noticed is the improved contrast and (i think imaginative) improvements in EQ. Other than that, i`ll report as soon as my baby suckles enough power to run with me :P

So fellow 3G users, whether ur on a puny dial up like me, or riding a beasty ADSL/broadband, get this Update and knock urself out :P

THANK YOU APPLE! :D

is there any way to shuffle a playlist, or on-the-go playlist on the ipod?

That's good news. But doesn't that defeat the purpose of having The 20GB 4thG iPods? 5GB more and more stuff... WOuldn't it be smarter to make people buy a $450 (AUD) iPod 20GB for the extra features than give them out for free?...

I think Apple make some strange decisions. Some are good for us, but not for them. Like this one.

Congrats all iPod 3G users...

well, they focus on customers, and not mainly on money. they try to make as easy to use, and they to make it as good as it can be.

and keep in mind that the 4G has click weel :slant: :slant:

Like the guy said above, Apple focuses on customers and not profit. Instead of making quick bucks all the time from a large group of one time and anonymous consumers, they have a core group of loyal customers and a far superior product.

Apple pays attention to its customers but it IS a company and its main goal is profit.

However i think what Wuzzie said was plain crap and stupid from customer relations point of view.

What is next Wuzzie, content producers should stop broadcasting shows on "regular" TVs cause HDTV is out? If we want to watch quality shows shouldn`t we upgrade to HDTV?

Getting off topic a bit... but Apple is in business to make money... it's that simple. They do so by making cool stuff and charging as much as the market will bear. They have staked they're entire business on being a niche/boutique provider of consumer computers and electronics. The success of the iPod is almost an anomoly. I'm curious if the mass appeal of this Apple product will force them into the mainstream, thus sabotaging their niche status. Steve Jobs... the next Bill Gates? LOL LOL

i think i may need to restate my opinions in a more clear way. of course they are into money, but they care about the customers much more than other companies do. thus having more people buy apple products because of ease of use, style, and innovation and therefore more money.
