High Blood pressure, Low, or something else?

HI,

For the past year or 2 I have been experiencing feelings of losing conciousness when standing up, or doing something that puts physical strain on the body. I haven't passed out yet, but one time it got to the point where i had to sit down until the starts went away. I am not in the best physical condition, you could call me lazy, a little underweight. I also sometimes have my leg feel as though all the blood is either rushing to it, or out of it, but it never does go to sleep, it just feels weird. So I was wondering if this was low or high blood presure, or maybe something else.

I know nobody here is a doctor, but it would help if you didnt post "go see a doctor, why are you askign us?" Im sure somebody knows of this problem. And i will go see a doctor soon.

Thank you,

Pops

Go see a doctor. Why are you asking us?

HI,

I am not in the best physical condition, you could call me lazy, a little underweight.

get exercise = problem solved.

(see a doctor first though, as any computer geek lifestyle habits may have degraded your body enough that a specific exercise program needs to be followed at first).

i suppose it could be low blood sugar. sounds like you're not eating enough. also, not to scare you, but those could be early symptoms of diabetes. get your ass to a doctor, dip****!

#257752

I belive they invented DDR for computre geeks to excersise to.

#257758

@shmengie, do you mean not eating the right stuff? I though low blood sugar was when u got too little sugar. I eat sweets all of the time.

#257779

Diabetes? who knows...seriously pops go see a doctor, what do you expect us to tell you? that what youre feeling is just the cause of a bit of a sweets binge? Go see a doctor, who knows it could be something serious.

Your life is definately more important than asking some people at a non-medical forum for help.

get exercise = problem solved.

One of the worst things you could recommend!

I'm into fitness - but I have also experienced a mild case of what Pops is talking about and it is scary to say the least. To tell someone just to go out and exercise may do more harm than good.

There are many contributing factors that could be causing it, i.e. diet, enviroment.

I really can't believe that you have put up with it for 2 years and not done anything about it - the first thing you have to do is see a doctor! You may be nervous or have other reasons - but there is no other way to do this. You can either let it govern your life or you can make a positive decision that you will get it sorted.

Pops, High Cholesterol runs rampant in my family. My father was in great shape and experiencing the exact thing you are describing about two years ago. He ended up having a heart attack. I would get a proper physical done ASAP.

Dunno why, people here are actually on topic. Thank you everyone for you're insights! I will be seeing a doctor soon.

I work in the medical field. It would be good to tell us your age and weight. Age plays a big roll in the way the body responds. Yes seeing a doctor soon would be the best thing. Or if you had your own blood pressure cuff or machine which they sell in stores I would take my blood pressure best to get a digital one unless you know what your doing. Take it laying down wait a few min take one sitting wait a few min then take one standing make a record of it and give it to your doctor. good luck

age: 16, weight: about 120 lbs (my scale may be off a few pounds)

wow, since 4:00, my right leg has been wanting to fall asleep. Like all of the blood seems to have stopped just below the hips on the left side, and its very warm there, and once and a while bood will get down to the leg. this is not normal

#257897

"your going to die in seven days"

LOL mntnbkr1065!!!! I am sorry for being an ass pops, I really do hope it is nothing serious. :)

Dude, seriously.. I would be scared.

This is what id do if i was you:

1.Book an appointment with a doctor (first a general practitioner to check your sugar levels and such, then a neurologist to make sure its nothing related to nerves)

2.GET OFF THE ****ING COMPUTER CHAIR (that doesnt mean bring your couch next to your computer)

3.Drink lots of water (not coke, not redbull, not mountain dew... water)

4.Eat balanced and without sugar, prefferably 5 small meals a day (breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snak, dinner)

5.GET OFF THE ****ING COMPUTER!

#257977

excersize and right diet and lots of friends would help.

#257979

man, you're way too young to be experiencing such symptoms. feeling dizzy when you stand up suddenly after sitting or lying down for a while is normal, everything else you mention isn't.

as for your leg, it probably has to do with your chair and the fact that you spend so much time in it. get the hell away from that computer, and even when you're sitting in front of it, find a small crate, like 3-5 inches high, to rest your feet on. this should prevent the front of your chair's seat from cutting into your thighs and stopping blood flow in your veins.

3.Drink lots of water (not coke, not redbull, not mountain dew... water)

4.Eat balanced and without sugar, prefferably 5 small meals a day (breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snak, dinner)

what he said

just a note: by sugar he means sacharose (or whatever the english term is), the white crystal stuff your mother puts in her coffee, not basic sugars such as the ones in honey and fruit. these are good for you and you should try to ingest them in the first half of your day, as they convert to energy easily and quickly. if you eat meat, do that in the afternoon. same goes for carbon-hydrate rich food such as pasta.

also, try to get excercise. for starters, don't to anything difficult. if it's not too far away, try to walk or ride a bike to school instead of driving/taking the bus.

and of course, see a doctor asap.
