PowerMac Case

Many of you probably saw all of those photos of Powermac cases being cut-up and used for pc cases... I've been browsing around, looking for some cases and found this very nice case which looks very much like the powermac case, take a look ...

I agree with facist, I think this man has made a really good job.

Of course, you cannot turn a PC into a Powermac but the result is still quite impressive!

However if I were to choose, i'd go for the one on the right handside, wouldn't you?

BTW, PC cases don't have to be ugly: http://www.buildyourown.org.uk/forums/topi...p?TOPIC_ID=3573

Oh my! welcome to the 21st century people!

Nice to see its still got space for not 1 but 3 floppy drives ( I havent had one of them in my box for over 3 years now)... and dont even get me started on the fact that people seem to need to have handles on the machines?!?!?! WTF is that all about...

Bloke 1 : "moving your PC for the 6th time today Dave?"

Bloke 2 : " yeah its a damn good thing its got these handles on, its a shame my stupid handle-less 21'' crt is slowing me down though! or I could have moved another 2 times today already"

I personally hate this case

:) i dont think anyone uses floppys anymore.... but you dont have to use those for floppies... as you can see they can be used for some extra ports or somethin....

Umm... if you're trying to prove a point, WHY did you link to THAT case???

#257475

I prefer this one alot more

CLICKY

Because *THIS* is a very good idea. Very very good. Perfect for hot cpu's :D And it looks way better anyway.

The word "BFUGLY" comes to mind when I see that case.

The craftsmanship is horrible. Fit and finish are fair at best.

Seams don't line up, inside the door looks like it was assembled with Elmer's glue.

Look at the enlarged profile pic of the case, the screws do not even sit flush.

Try hard. That's all I can say. These people try hard to copy other good cases and fail. I would prefer to pay for a PowerMac G5 case.

and what would you do with just a powermac case? same crap as others where they just throw some pc parts in and i nthe end it looks ugly and all is overheated?

are better examples of using g5 case for pc.

is the best g5 looking pc for now. it's a good company.

trust me its a ongoing project, thanks for the link steelfist, I could never figure out how to remove the top peices of the case on the G5 - that helped out a lot. Now since I got rounded cables I can mount my cables underneath the motherboard routing it to the top of the harddrive cage.

Also remember once you do put a pc into an apple G5 case. Expect a lot of hate mail, messages, comments. :slant:

Sorry for the bump.

I'm actually interested in Intel mac pro case, but even a G5 would do. Intel mac pro case is better since with G5, the pc mobo will have to go inverted (upside position) and that's a bit of problem with my thermal management plan. But then if I don't get intel case or if cost is too high, I guess I'll have to make do with G5 case and make changes in thermal zone design I originally intended.

If anyone have anything related to this, like a case itself or link for sale or similar (and which comes under $100-$130 with international shipping), please do let me know.

I've actually once made plan to build G5 tower case from scratch and had made rough diagrams for exteriors. But by the time I started working on interior diagrams and individual parts, I got busy with work and stuff. And one of the friend with whom I had started original project, he moved to another city. So ultimately that thing died off.

I might revoke the project again, but if I can get my hands on case itself it will be time saver I'll have to work on interior only. So, if anyone has anything.. a pretty please !!
