MSStyle Blues

Hey all,

Something very strange happened to me and I need your help,

I downloaded the Royal Inspirat Special Edition MSStyle and my whole screen went purple, I mean Everything, I am familiar with windows, and tried to re-enable windows classic theme, but it wont apply. ( I am clicking blindly on windows boxes). I had a look in my resources themes directory, and everything looks fine,( browsed to directory from another PC/ Folder shared). I even tried to delete the Royal Inspirat theme thinking windows will default back to original theme, but no go.; has anyone experienced similar problems with this theme, and does anyone have a fix? is this a bug or virus?

Thx

You must have accidentally click on applying the theme from "display properties> themes" instead of applying the msstyle from "display properties> appearance". I have faced that problem before. Right now your system has the color scheme applied instead of the msstyle. Try booting in safe mode and then go to display properties> appearence> choose windows classic as the default vs. The under Color schemes> choose windows classic. Hope it helps :)

Thx Frease,

but i did apply the style from appearance tab, and I tried to boot into safe mode, and everything is still purple, I cannot see any text or anything but purple boxes. What is wierd is that the style has been deleted however it wont default back to windows classic theme, could it be that my uxtheme.dll has become corrupted? If so how would I be able to restore my default back without having any visibility?

thx

I assume you are posting this from another machine. If not, I am unable to understand what exactly do you mean by 'everything purple'. Can you post a screenshot please?

maybe it's just one of those weird coincidences: perhaps your monitor cable is loose...?

Itanium you Ass-ume corretly, I am posting from another pc, and how in gods good name am i to post a screenshot, I cannot see anything at all but purple boxes, it is exactly as it sounds.

Shmengie, I thought you were on to something there dude, but hardware checks out ok.

what i am in the process of doing is recording my steps on another pc e.g winkey r > explorer > type in /system32 > hit the u key, > scroll down 6 times > and hit delete > of the uxtheme.dll ....hoping that if themes service cannot find it (uxtheme.dll), it will default back.

unless anyone has another alternative.

thx
