So is this chip some kind of super duper processor that will change the world forever or what?

Change the world forever... doubt it.

But it will provide more choices in the CPU arena.

It's basicaly a multi core CPU based on IBM's Power 5 CPU architecture.

Small and fast, but still in the development stages.

the first thing i heard it i thought it was a biological processer hence the name "cell". . otherwize, it's just an improved cpu with more bells and whisles.
