Is there anyway to customize what folders are shown in the left pane of most Open dialog's? Right now mine says "Most Recent Document", "My Documents" etc. but I never use those folders so I'd like to change them to something usefull.
Thanks!

Get TweakUI, you can change those in there under the "Common Dialogs" section.
Yeah, I think are some registry keys, but if you use TweakUI for WinXP is more easly ![]()
Look at this picture

Bye.
You arent restricted to only the selections in the drop down box in TweakUI either. You can just type in a path in the box too.
Thanks guys this really helps!
is there any way to change how this is in office too? i used tweak ui to change all of the other ones but for some reason, office still has default
it's probably some crazy .DLL that you would have to hack. or maybe there's a prog to do it... idk. anyway, i had tweakui and i never knew i could do that! cool!
thanx guys

there is this prog called places bar editor... i found it from virtual plastic
it lets you edit your places bar to anything you want ![]()
get it @ http://www.maddogsw.com/placesbar/
you can add any folders too!
edit: ok tweakui does that too. nevermind ![]()
guess the only good thing about it is the preview.
I've changed my Office dialog with X-Setup from X-teq systems (Get It Here!)
It's free and it helps you change a buttload of settings system wide.... think of it as tweakui on steroids.
However... if you're using Office 2003 beta, you might have to make the changes throught the registry (at least, I had to  )
With regedit add the same entries that appear on:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office.0\Common\Open Find\Places
to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office.0\Common\Open Find\Places
