I was just wondering how difficult it would be to mimick spotlight by building a frontend for Google Desktop. I don't know enough about these sort of things. The reason I posted it in Ave's Apps is because it seemed to be the only logical application to handle it.

I just started playing with it and it actually uses IE as its interface. Wow. Seems like a toughy.
It replaces Winsock libraries to have its own hook and to control information passing through it. Maybe GD uses the same way to display results.
Any new hope in getting this into a Spotlight look-alike with the final version of Google Desktop Search coming out yesterday.
Don't know about all of you, but I dropped Google Desktop Search and lived happily ever after with Copernic Desktop Search, much more customizable (in regards to what you want searched) and you get a taskbar search (not a tiger looking one, but a very practical one), and as far as I can tell it indexes a bunch of stuff google doesn't. :cool:

I'm currently developing a widget for Kapsules and possibly porting it to Konfab later using the info from the released SDK. Not sure if Konfab will be possible but going to give it a go.
