[help] 12' ibook or 12' powerbook

Hi guys,

I might be getting some cash soon and I want to get myself

an apple laptop. What do you think I should get ?

12' ibook ($1,241.00) :

• 768MB DDR266 SDRAM (256MB built-in & 512MB SO-DIMM)

• 80GB Ultra ATA drive

• Combo drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW)

• AirPort Extreme Card

• Bluetooth Module

• Keyboard & Mac OS X - U.S. English

• 12-inch TFT XGA display

• 1.2GHz PowerPC G4

• ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 w/ 32MB DDR video memory

12' Powerbook ($1,467.00) :

• 768MB DDR333 (256MB built-in + 512MB SO-DIMM)

• 60GB Ultra ATA drive @5400rpm

• Combo Drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW)

• AirPort Extreme Card

• Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English

• 1.5GHz PowerPC G4

• NVIDIA GeForce FX GO 5200 with 64MB DDR Video Memory

• 12.1-inch TFT Display

Both of these prices are after the educational discount.

Also, If someone here has an 12" ibook / Powerbook could

you take a photo for me so I could see EXACTLY what they

look like ? I know this sounds wierd but the apple store in my

neighborhood doesnt have 12' ibooks or powerbooks on

display so I cant look at them :(

Thanks in advance,

Gabriel.

you'll want the iBook unless you have the extra cash.

I just bought the new 12" powerbook and love it. I really like the new trackpad feature, very useful scrolling up and down on web pages.

hmm, I think im going to get an ibook and save up the extra cash

for a mini mac :) I read many reviews and heard ALOT of people

say that the powerbooks are alot more fragile and they scratch

more easily. I know this sounds wrong but I went and checked

out the 14 inch ibook and 15 inch powerbook and well, the PB

does seem a little bit more fragile, plus its butt ugly. I really like the

white look of the ibook, and Im not that excited about spending

a few hundred dollars more on a slightly better cpu and a better

graphics card.

You think the PB is ugly?

Man, it's just a matter of taste, I personnaly do love the look of the powerbook, it's so sexy!

I would say go for the powerbook if it's not much more, but if you dont have the money just go for the iBook.

BTW, you could probably find a cheaper one on ebay or amazon.

good luck

Unless you are tihnking about getitng the high end mobel of the Mac mini I think getting the iBook and Mac mini would be quite pointless as tehre is not a great deal of difference (specs wise) between the two, just my opinion but I am stilll not to knowledagle in this area.

what are you going to use the powerbook/ibook for? that is the main thing to help you justify whether the powerbook is worth the extra cost.
