Favourite computer technology?

I'm bored while I should be doing a uni assignment and was wondering, what everyones favourite computer technology?

I'd have to say either:

Bluetooth, because it's nice to have a wireless mouse without a base station and I can synch my phone with my computer.

or Firewire, because it's quick and you can daisy-chain shed-loads of devices together off one port (and I've only got the one on my PB!)

What about the rest of you?

FW all the way!

Mine would have to be... speakers. I don't know when or how I would listen to music without it. i like my webcam too, but I have only used it once before i got it :P

But whoever came up with the whole idea of the personal computer is a genius. who ever came up with windows and linux, are evil. Imagine how awsome it would be if everyone had a mac!

CTRL + ALT + Del

I must add to my list the very accurate programs that control milking devices and make cows feel violated by Bender :)

bluetooth :)

i hooked my friends motorola razr v3 phone up to her powerbook through bluetooth, and now she can surf the net wherever her phone has a signal (which is everywhere) and the speeds are pretty fast

MIDI. Yeah, I'm old school.

As for new tech though, Firewire would be it.

#253784

My vote goes for Firewire. It's sooo fast and stable.

Going to have to agree with you there. I went on the internet 'round a friends house, who had 56k, and it was awful

Free 2mb/s fiber optic broadband forever!! :D

#253787

Either wireless networking or firewire... crazy speeds in external devices

#253948

broadband for sure.....i could never go back to dialup now.

firewire's great too....

#254121

I'm thinking 56k just because I'm greatful to even have that. Or maybe Linux or Mac OS X or some alternative OS to Windows.

#254147

Firewire and WIFI for me ;)

Free?!? how come?

Free?!? how come?

Long story short, my dad works for BT (British Telecomm) and he's on a list of people they go to if they want new products tested before they go on sale to the public. So we've got free 2mb/s fiber optic connection for the next 7 months. BT pay for everything :)

Alpha blending, if it's the right category.

#254213

1gb/s internet - if it existed!

#254221

Actually you can get 75tb/s internet, but it would cost alot :)

#256471

Its a toss up between 802.11g and LCDs

#256505

bah, all this new-fangled stuff. My favourite bit of kit, is my really slick keyboard, I love it to bits and wouldn't swap it for a WiFi setup, or a Bluetooth module, or (another) firewire host... the good old Keyboard gets my vote...

Really? I thought the fastest connection you could get was around 4GB/s? :slant:
