[help] Avedesk loading very slow

Hi.

I see you no longer offer problem support. Well can i please request some help please as I really need it.

I currently have AveDesk 1.1 and it takes about 3 minutes to load the desktop icons at startup which is really inconvienient as I have to wait that long before I can use any icons.

I have Windows XP SP2

I have an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ and 1gb PC3200 DDR RAM

Im using a resoloution of 1024x768 in 32bit.

Im using AveDesk 1.1

my avedesk used to load slow for me

i know it loads slower on startup then it does when i just start the program by its self

you also might want to see if you have any extra desklets/docklets loading up..

i had a problem where the same desklet was stack on each other..

another thing that might help is to change the size of the icon images so its closer to what your using in avedesk

not sure if that will help your situation but its worth a shot.

I highly doubt that is the reason. I'm using Judge's active drive SysStats config for 120 gig drive that shows dirve led activity. In addition to that, I have a desklet that monitors my CD-RW drive, which i always have the disk in for archiving files on the fly, network traffic monitor, clock, calendar, weather..blah blah blah....

My hardware consits of 3.0GHz Intel (prescott); 1 gig matched dual channel ram and about a bazillion startup services/programs etc. (i.e. windowblinds, objectdock,iconpackager - ya know all the "resource hungry" apps)

My Avedesk doesn't take but 30secs to start up - if that.

Anyway....avedesk 1.2 will be out soon.

all i can see is to disable the sublabel so that it will no longer scan files.

It loads very quickly now I have disabled the lables. But to be honest the labels giving me all these nice stats were the best bits

Folks, after half a year of living off my savings, I finally got a job. Unfortunately I'm 110% busy getting it started these days. So I ask your patience - I need to add to, extend and fix some of the scripting related things within AveDesk (which'll sport some funky effects as our resident man of action has betrayed already) and I hope to get them done in the coming 1-2 weekends: So be patient with this old man.

Regarding the labels problem, would setting the labels to only show on mouse-over help?

Then at least as it is scanning the files it hasn't got other startup programs to share with.

This problem has never happened to me while booting Windows. I have a friend who installed AveDesk 1.1 and his AveDesk won't start up at all while Windows boots. He went into the Control Panel for AveDEsk and checked the box for Startup With Windows, but the check never stays. I don't know what to say.

Sometimes AveDesk hangs when I double-click on a desklet. This happens for frequently after closing out my Opera browser.

Still, can't wait for AveDesk 1.2. I recommend AveDesk over DesktopX to everyone I talk to. Simply can't live without it.

Your My Documents folder is causing it. The Folder desklet is not meant to handle 11GB sources (mine is 40ish GB and it is S L O W).

PIDL is optimized for AveDesk 1.2, old desklets are not.
