I've been browsing these forums for a couple of days now and I really like what I see, a lot of talent and a lot of good people.
Being new to the idea of windows modding (I just discovered styleXP for the first time last week) I dont know much about it, but to me it seems like something that I would really like to get into.
Any advice you guys can offer to help me get started? Programs, Guides, etc?
i suggest you install FlyakiteOSX, windowblinds, yzdock and yzshadow and objectbar. instead of using it.
i know you will like them better.

try out the stardock suite of apps, that's what i'm using. most of them are either freeware or shareware. for more info go to their site:
why use stylexp?
use the uxtheme hack. it does the same thing, except it's free, simple, and doesn't use resources.
uxtheme hack is great for people with experience, but not necessarily the greatest way to start for somebody just learning how to customize windows.

it's easy to use. besides, you have to start somewhere. i jumped right in with the file replacement. never bothered with an app to do it.
something more advanced would be reshacker. that takes some time to learn, but it's not difficult either.

stylebuilder trial
resedit/reshacker. i prefer resedit because it's more intuitive to me.
Whats the history of this? I couldn't tell you what Longhorn, Aqua, or Aero are.
