All the time WinXP Pro SP2 - I'm just happy with XP. No problems since years - it works, and works .... just have to know how to optimise it ;)

But my biggest Dream is still: OS X for PC - that would be Apple's Hardware dead, but I think nobody would use Win anymore :D

I use Windows XP SP2, but want a Mac Mini, but am going to wait as I found a good vehicle that is pretty rare that I wanted to find really badly. Its an old Jeep Scrambler, and only about 24,000 were ever made. (Think I got the number right.) Now I'm saving up for it. The Mac can wait ;). I also use Ubuntu Linux, but I need to get a program that can partition the hard drive without losing any data first before installing the install version. Right now I use the Live CD.

No matter how much you customize XP, it does not compare to the real thing. I came to realize that. Make the switch.

You know, I seriously considered buying a Mac for my new pc I had been saving for last year.

Before I had the opportunity to use the real OS X through PearPc and I really made me want to get the real thing instead of mimicing it under XP or emulating it at 1/15the speed.

As far as GUI is concerned I swear by the OS X interface.

I think OS X is superior to winXP in terms of user-friendlyness and I find it more logical in the way it operates and you interact with it.

If Apple would release an x86 version of OS X I'd buy it instantly. But I guess that would never happen since it would be the end of their hardware-line. Except if they would make it possible to use x86 (both applications & games) on their systems. Kinda like VirtualPC only then a real speed.

Also the hardware-modability should be better. Especially the videocard-support area. I really can't believe that their top G5 pc's contain a mere GeforceFX 5200 with just 64mb on a AGP bus, while the newest x86 pc's contain the much faster PCIe bus and videocards with up to 256mb dedicated memory. For much less $$$. Also, the thing that kept me from making the switch was the fact that I'm a gamer and there is just much more available on this subject for x86 than on Mac's PPC systems. And a 1-botton mouse...come on! To me these are dealbreakers.

So at the end I went for an AMD64 with a 256mb Geforce6. Also 1024 mb main memory instead of the measely 256mb on the default G5. Because of this choice I had to go WindowsXP. Sp2. Can't say XP is all that bad (alot more stable than my previous win9x installments), I just like OS X better.

But fact of the matter is that eversince I discovered the OS X interface I swear by it's appearance and on every re-install of WinXP changing the GUI to an OS X theme through WindowBlinds actually is one of the first things I do.

I really can't stand the standard windows-interface and the OS X top-left callout buttons (close, min, max) for me is the only way to go. Taskbar on top. And dock on bottom. Only thing I lack is a finderbar on my taskbar, because the current ones (Objectbar, Finderbar, McBar) do not feel right yet for me. I have high hopes for the promised Mcbar taskbar add-on.

The good thing about windowsXP instead of OS X is that it gave me a nice hobby along with it: Aqua-modding it. ;)

I'm using...???

I'll post a screenshot in the SS thread later and see if anyone can spot which OS it is... (I know it will probably be obvious, but who knows)

Oh and while I'm at it...
