[Help] Hotmail Users

Do any of you have a problem with hotmail saying your attachments has an unknown virus? This happens every day and the funny thing is that they do not have a virus at all. Just letting off some frustrations lol :slant:

>>>>>>.Unknown virus scanner failure Virus Found

every single day

#252440

Hmm... I've never had this problem. O.o

Maybe it's because your security settings are to high?

#252441

my secruity is fine im able to open my road runner mail just fine. hotmail scans the files before they even reach my inbox

Hotmail automatically scans all attachments using Trend Micro.

#252442

i supposse your attachment is a program that trend micro is too sensitive about. happens to me all the time too.

edit:. i mean a zipped or winrared program.

#252447

they are zips and rars sometimes the zip will come through fine abd then this mess grrr

#252448

here's a novel idea...don't use Hotmail.

I mean, it IS Microsoft's proprietary mail app after all...and what with all the virii that attack their products, you'd be safer using another email host.

Just this week a virus is going around on the MSN networks through MSN Messenger.

Linux and Mac OS are about 98% virus free, whereas 98% of the virii out there are targeted at Windows.

need I say more?

#252499

i use both platforms and im done with msn. I would just use my mac all the time but cant run many programs i use on it.

#252613

like what?

Mac has every app I need...so does Linux

#252730

some internet programs

#252733

if you mean *cough*p2p*cough* i heard there are quite a few for osx. also, try shareaza and darwine ( http://darwine.opendarwin.org ) which together make it possible to run it on a mac. all it needs is x and some libraries. i don't have a mac mini yet so i can't guarantee it runs but if it doesn't, just use your pc for what you need it for such as those "internet programs" and your mac for everything else. why pay so much for a mac and not even use it as your main computer? once i get a mac mini i'm just gonnas keep my pc off most of the time (and return to the quiet life before i started to have a broken psu with a fan that made loud sounds every few seconds  )

#252734

lol not p2p programs news program and a chat program does mirc run on a mac? and the graphic programs that i purchased are only for windows it cost more to now purchase it for a mac like the programs quark express was very expensive I used it most of the time. My pc isnt loud not yet lol

#252913

you can surf the net, have firefox, have msn and other chat programs, what else? seriously. microsoft is trying i mean trying to eradicate a huge problem with spam right now, and from what i have seen they didn't fix much problems. they are just too many spam and too much money wasted to get rid of these guys.

#252927

nope, i've never had that problem.

#252929

it's quite terrible for me these days. 20 email spams a day. i want to see apple present their mail application for windows, like porting their mail program to windows, a free email service (without spam) and other stuff to mimic microsoft's mailing techniques. then people will flock to apple then.

#252932

a lot of people have been getting 50 invites on their gmail accounts lately, why not ask around for one?

#252945

i have a gmail account 2 infact

#252956

I must be lucky or something... I haven't recieved (seen anyway) a piece of spam in my Hotmail account in months. I get all my regular email though. I only give the address to friends and family and never for any other online purpose.

My Gmail account gets spammed daily and the ONLY place I've ever even posted it is on Aero-Soft to register.

Gmail has a good spam filter thought, but why am I gettig spammed in the first place.... because Google does sell their email lists. You didn't think that 1 GB of email space was free did ya?

Apple doesn't offer anything of significance other than the free email app that come with OS X.

It's good, but so are many other non Apple email programs. Apple uses the same spam filtering logic as everyone else... including M$. Porting Apples mail app to Windows would be pointless, except to please those Apple hungry people out there who don't have an Apple yet. There are plenty of non M$ alternatives out there.

Outlook Express is a joke... enough said. Full version of Outlook 2003 is awesome. Great filters and the security has been improved greatly. Too bad it costs a small fortune to get it... it's not THAT good.

Just some observations I have made while trying out what ever I can get my hands on.

#253141

I have a post server. Hotmail I do not use also to you I do not advise.

#253156

This belongs in general web.

With 50 Gmail invites per capita in here, why would someone still use Hotmail? mass email your contacts notifying them about your email change, itll be worth it.
