Hi everyone. I am mostly new to this os x emulation stuff, but I am really getting involved now. My computer looks pretty dang close to the real thing now. But, I was wondering, about all of the docks that are out there. I have tried them all (and still cannot make a decision on which one to use)and they all put my cpu usage to 100% as soon as my mouse runs over the dock. Even if I shut off the zooming this still happens. I was wondering what the affects on the cpu are when doing that. Does it do any long term damage? No other normal xp effects bump the processer up to 100% and when I saw that all these dock did I started to worry a bit. This computer is my first and probably only for a while and it is really nice actually. Pentium 4 1.60 gigs. But anyways could anyone just give me some info on this. I know all of you people out there are using these docks regularly, so I would guess that its ok, but it just seems like I'm putting a lot of stress on it... I would think DirectX would help with this matter a little and that the video card should take some strain off the cpu, much strain. Also does the macs cpu go skyrocketing every time the dock is used, or are they using a better method for their dock, that these guys just haven't figured out yet?
CPU Usage Affects???
well, all the docks do have that cpu usage, WHILE ROLLING OVER THEM, that means, that while they are idle, the CPU usage goes normal, I dont think you rollover all the day in there, just whn you launch an application, or change window, it doesnt always use the 100%. I thought the same as you before, but I got to that conclusion, so use whichever you prefer. About the Directx, I dont know how easy it would be to integrate it, but I dont think it might be easy, first lets have it fully developed, then with computer performace.
Don't worry Jmitch, your cpu won't suffer any damage. A high CPU usage is almost normal with some apps, there is no reason to worry about it ![]()
Good luck with your new PC.
Iceman.
Thanks guys. You've made me feel a whole lot better now!
What do you think the most accurate of all the docks are to the real os x dock. I have used the real dock many of times now, because my school has 2 iMacs in every classroom. I slip onto one every time I get the chance and take some notes on the fine details of the interface. But the dock is so hard to note and remember. Its like there is some magical thing to the dock in the real os x than cannot be emulated ever. THen again, I dont know which of all these docks we can use are the closest to the real thing. They are all definitly different, but its hard to tell, even after using the docks on the real thing for quite some time now. What are your guys opinions on the most accurate dock, that represents the real dock?? ![]()
Oh and by the way thanks for the good luck Iceman and your site rocks!
It was the first one that got me into this whole thing.
