The comment about Apple using a proprietary format doesn't make any sense...it can still play MP3s. I think Sony's new stuff can't even do that; it can ONLY play AA3C or whatever Sony's special format is.
Although I could be entirely wrong.
I think they're finally making it so that Sony's don't just use ATRAC anymore. They probably realized they were losing out on sales because of the formatting issues.
