Blurry Icons NOW

So its been a couple of days since MDDX came out, and when it first came out, the "blurry" icon feature would give me eye strain, but since then, my eyes have adjusted, and I actually like it. It makes the mag effect look much better. I know there was a lot of complaints over it, but how do you feel about it now?

Please only people who have been using the dock for the 2 days, and not people who ran back to Y'z or OD right when they found out about the blurriness.

Well, i've grown a custom to it also. It's not really a major problem, once you get used to it.

I found out that the blurry icons is more noticable in crt monitor than in lcd. most mac using lcd, so, that is why I think it looks nice. I have a desktop and laptop. I like the blurriness in the laptop, and in my desktop, the blurry icons looks like crap. But I still use it as my default dock until now for both machine. I just hope moby will make turn on/off option for blurry icon, so the problem can end.

i would have to say blurry icons is a wonderful feature.. considering its like the real mac os x dock.. rather if you dont notice it on the real dock.. but i do.. i notice it alot. i think its an excellent feature... makes the mag have more of a purpose so you can zoom up the icon and see it more clearly... the bluring of icons also gives the illusion that the icons are IN the dock.. bluring it blurs the pixels mixing it in with the suroundigns rather then being totaly sharp and makes it look like there infront if you know what i mean...

i personaly think its not a good enough excuse to not use mobydock jsut because of a feature that the real dock has that moby has implimented.... its a sweet feature.

Thats wierd, I get the opposite effect. I have 2 monitors and I can barely notice the blurriness on my CRT side, but on the LCD, it really stands out. Maybe I just have a crappy CRT.

MDX is there for me to launch my applications, to check the time, to configure, and to delete apps. I love the blur feature because it makes the dock there but unobstrusive enough to not bother me with sharp looking icons. I don't use the dock for uselessly moving the mouse along it and admiring its sharpness zoomed or unzoomed. Bolero describes the bluriness perfectly -- as an enhancement to the zoom factor.

And look! I've just noticed it now... the small icons at the bottom of the aqua-soft pages are as blurry at my icons in Mobydock DX! :D

I like it now also, i've forgot how sharp idle icons look like thats why. I better not load up Yz or OD, o'r I will hate the blurryness again :o

Loving it so far:D

Actually, I didn't even notice the inactive icons were blurry until I read this forum thread... I have a fairly small dock so the difference between blurry and sharp icons is barely noticeable. But if I had a large dock, I think I would prefer to have sharp icons.

The larger the dock gets the less blurry they become... the smaller the icons are in idle the mroe blurry they will become.. so even if you make the dock as big as it can go.. there will be not as notcible blending in of blurryness.. its mainly for smaller icons because the magnfiication is there to clear them up...

I think it should be sharp all the time.

i said its ok.

I think its so negligible to the dock's feel, look and functionality, that it isnt noticeable, SPECIALLY when its identical to the real thing.

However, yeah i might have a prefernece for a slight sharper look - still i wouldnt even bother working on that blur thing yet, cause i'd like to see other things, such as SKINNED pop up windows + shapes available, and fixed bugs.

Just thought Id give an update. It seems to be mixed feelings. I hope this is helping you somewhat Moby. I guess I did this to show that the blurryness isnt horrible, as most people (me included) made it seem right after release.

Don't like it

#22340

How about blurry Sigs and Avatars ? .... so we are more Mac-like

#22341

Great Idea! But if I do it, wouldnt that be agreeing with you? Well, this certainly cant be...
