Clever little taskbar mod (makes it look more mac-like)

If you aren't using ObjectBar and want to make the taskbar look a bit more like the Mac Finderbar, here's a really easy little tweak you can perform. Unfortunately, it is not functional, but it looks good.

Just open the 'My Documents' folder. then create seven new folders in the 'My Documents' folder with nothing in them. Name each one according to the Finderbar options - Finder, File, Edit, View, Go, Window, Help.

Finally, make sure your taskbar isn't locked and simply drag each folder onto the taskbar. They should appear as type. just move them to the left side of the taskbar, lock the taskbar, and you're finished!

Again, they don't do anything, and I know I'm going to get some comments about their uselesness, but for those of you who still like the regular XP taskbar, it's a nice little addition.

If youput shortcuts in to those folders, they could atleast serve some simple purpose I do this myself but with folders of custom shortcuts, it quite handy!

well this just takes up valuable space in the taskbar and as you mentioned pretty useless

this defeats the whole point of the finder bar

But...if you used a program like methodik's xTrayTasks, you won't have to worry about taskbar usage. As long as you have a system tray, you have task-switching.

As long as you're happy with the setup, I say go for it. I've tried something similar before. Instead of using the actual title though, I would put up folders with shortcuts to: "Files", "Editors", "Viewers", etc...

edit: a thought. You could have the quicklaunch bar to the left of the folders with a shortcut to xTaskswitch (same link as before). Use the Finder icon. Clicking it will pop up a menu with your current tasks. The program can also hide your real task buttons.

The programs you suggested I check out are pretty nifty, but I don't really have much need for them.

I think my current setup just seems to work fine for me.

They are cool, though!

You can actually create new toolbars and move em all on to the same one and it will give the same appearance and u can use them as menus and stuff, I use to do it before I got Objectbar

Thank you for the information, very interesting for people as me prefer to keep start menu bar xp and dont use OB...But just one question, for the fonts in taskbar and folder like Finder etc... If i want bigger or bold, or just have the same fonts of my theme...How i made that?

If you want customizable menus, you'd be better off using McBar by Rimmer. Pretty simple to change.
