KVM Switch for Mac Mini

Apple suggest several KVM switches, but they are all American based. I know the requirements for a Mac Mini are for it to have USB support, so I was wondering which of these two KVM switches would be best for two computers (an XP Machine and a Mac Mini):

One is a 2 port, the other is a 4 port. Would either work?

Cheers

from what i see both only alow one USB device to be switched (the 4xer has 4 outs and the 2xer has 2) so that would mean that youd have have a usb hub of some sort. id imagine.

its a very nice KVM, a freind of mine has it, very slick and the cable managment is excelent

I think it would be way cool to intergrate the mac mini into your PC case, i think with a little modding it would fit in 2 or 3 5.25 drive bays.

That's ok, I think. I've got a keyboard/mouse combination which only needs 1 USB port (again, I think that's the case). Would it allow a USB keyboard/mouse and a USB connection to both machines as well? - I think the Mac Mini needs the KVM switch to connect to it via USB...

Thanks for the help

This place is starting to freak me out - this is the second time this week I have been thinking about something, logged into A-S and there is the answer!!!

This is just what I need to run my G3 and PC through one monitor. Now just have to find a UK supplier.

And here we go...

whats a KVM switcher?

whats a KVM switcher?

Check one of the links and all will become clear.

IOGear just released a KVM switcher for Mac mini too. Check out their webpage. ;)

I am thinking of getting a Mac Mini in addition to my PC. I need a KVM switch, but one that has DVI video. I want the best possible video signal and VGA isn't what I'm looking for. Does anyone recommend something? Thanks.

Does anyone know of a UK supplier for the IOGear KVM switches above? - I just wondered if anyone knows of someone reputable?

I've got my Mini ordered now, so might want a switch soon(ish)

Hey David,

How long is the wait time when you ordered your Mac Mini? I will probably order this week and was just curious if they were on backorder or anything.

I have the IOGear MiniView Micro USB Plus (GCS632U) - link

This KVM works great with my PC and Mac (Blue and White, G4 Modded). It switches audio, emulates special keys of Mac and Sun. I use a MS keyboard and mouse... more than one mouse button in OS X, I'm lovin it!!

#257160

That's not DVI is it?

#257162

Correct... the IOGear GCS632U is not DVI.

#257163

The waiting list for me is currently 2-3 weeks. It will ship on or before the 10th March. However, I've heard from others that this is an overestimate, and it commonly does not take this long.

I'll keep you posted.

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive DVI KVM switch with USB and audio?

#257385

i have personally never come across a DVI KVM switch

#257387

Belkin has the 2-Port OmniView SOHO Series KVM Switch with Audio, DVI USB (F1DD102U). The lowest price I saw was at PC Connection $158 - link Cables are not inclued.
