[Help] Realistic Brush effects in Photoshop

Does anyone know a tutorial or can provide me with one for making Photoshop create similar paint effects to Corel Painter. I need a way of doing realistic paint with layers as Corel Painter can't do layers and I can't get realistic paint effects in Photoshop.

I think you would not be able to match corel painter for effects, and as for a simple tutorial there wouldnt be one.

Your best bet is to get a graphics tablet (if you dont already have one) and create your own brushes. then you should be able to create some of the effects.

Erm - Which Corel Version Do you use?

Painter 8 supports Layers and can save as ps for create layer-effects.

(that's the way I do)

Yes Painter8...layers and everything!

What I would do is make a gradient of the brushed colour. Then do a filter and add noise monochromatic. Then do a motion blur. You might have to clip some edges off, but that shud look pretty accurate.

I think they're talking about paint-brushes, not the brushed metal style.

Well, I prolly shouldn't have assumed now should I? :P My bad lol, but nonetheless, thats a good way to make a brushed effect :D

Yeah, that's the method I use. Works great.

I have Painter Classic. I got it with my graphics tablet (Wacom Volito), i looked at the new version of Painter (IX) but as I just spent £300 on PC parts I'm slightly out of pocket at the mo.
