Bump Thread

We all know the phenomenom--some poor shmoe who came too late to the Aqua scene, so they decide to bump an NeXplorer thread, or an Xplore thread, or some other program's thread.

So, I figured I could make this thread, and, instead of bumping older threads, you can just make the requests in here!

I hope this is ok. If not, mods have my permission to close it :P.

Shouldn't this then be titled something like. "Any question you have thread"?

I think this is a bad idea, it pretty much negates the hierarchy that has been established. Unless it be a requirement to link to the thread that would have been bumped so others could get background on the question. Of course, no **** would have the sense to read the rules and do so. Thus it would still end up a mess.

The "poor shmoe" should just learn to open his/her/its eyes, see how the boards are set up and figure out that USING SEARCH FEATURE and READING THE ENTIRE THREAD are actually very useful habits to get into.

Bumping an old thread should be okay if for a good reason. Most bumps are not for good reasons. "Any updates?" or "I want my new version!!!111oneoneononoo" or "Help me I'm stupid!" are not good reasons.

Nice try at being helpful, but people are just too stupid/lazy to be able to use this idea in your intended way. We may as well just continue answering the questions in the proper threads.

Good points.

1) I couldn't really think of a good title

2) The poor shmoe occasionally will do all that, and find that ALL links are dead.

3) When they do that, they generally "bump" the thread. This is all fine and good, but then you have some **** who comes along and says "Hey, this is a great job. Nice work vnuemann...are planing you to hve upadted ths?" (Yes, spelling and all :P)

4) Other people feel the need to contribute. This is just to prevent that. If you feel it won't work, hey. History will be my judge :).

Hopefully people aren't stupid or lazy, though.

Thanks for the input, sketching!

I'm also okay with bumping threads looking for alternatives to dead links. Good point.

In that case, it would make more sense to do it in the original thread rather then possibly confuse people asking about links in various other threads.

Does this mean you can LEGALLY bump this topic? Sweet!!!!!

#250008

We don't want people bumping threads saying, "where download is??!"

And THIS- http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread....0016#post250016 - is exactly what I am talking about.

bump ;)

(that dosn't look right with the winking and all)

Nah, there's no point for this thread. Instead of bumping, they should search the forum, and if there's no info, start a new thread. Not the end of the world. This will just get messy.
