well i'm surprised no one ever noticed the harry potter reference in osx or at least posted about it... in the mail.app icon here is an owl. in harry potter, owls carry mail to people. if there's a reason for this other than because of harry potter please tell me because i've been thinking its about harry potter since i first saw the mail.app icon.

lol, how about a screenshot?
regardless if there is an owl in the mail icon, i highly doubt it has anything remotely to do with harry potter..
wow..
I thought it was a Golden Eagle? :slant:

Yeah, as far as I'm aware it's either a Golden Eagle or some kind of hawk...
It's far too huge and thin to be an owl.
Owl does not necessarily mean Harry Potter. Besides, if Apple used an owl, WB (that's Warner Bros, not WindowBlinds...whoever makes it) would probably sue them, and Apple would sue back just because WB dared to sue them. Then you'd get a suing war, and Apple would be forced to give away G5's and Mini's for free!! ![]()
Yeah, that's definitely not an owl though.

Owls and other birds were often used to carry messages. Ever heard of Carrier Pigeons? They can even do TCP now.

And the best part is that it's all wireless =]
looks like a pigeon to me........aw nevermind
well i never believed that someone can be this stupid, however, once again i`m proved wrong :slant:
The bird in the stamp is eagle, but if you want it to be an owl BigB, u think what your heart desires
judging by the way the wings are shaped, the bird in the Mail icon is most likely an eagle
Or: A vulture, circling above Outlook Express and awaiting it to turn into carrion...
in the past, birds were used to carry mail, so this has nothing to do with harry potter.
and another thing, in previous version of mail, there were another picture of an animal, I don't remember which..
the way i see it, theres no referance to hp in any way, its just a stinkin bird stamp...
shhh guys!
don`t spoil his fun
/Yes, it IS related to Harry Potter!
LOL
oh yeah!! i just remembered theres also a system icon w/ a magic wand in it! i'm not kiddin, i think many of yuo know what i'm talkin about....
You guys don't know that the Finder icon used to be Harry Potters face before he got his glasses...
And doesnt the @ on the Address book stand for Azkabaan??? .. and .. and there is chess on OS X which is what Harry Potter plays !! wow
the bigB got owned by so many people.....
U didn't really think that, did u dude? i mean harry potter? u know gandolf used a bird in lotrs why not go that way? or there were birds in the second matrix when neo fights 50 mr smiths, and they all fly at neo. that would be way cooler.
oh well :/
OK, we've made fun of this enough.
