Is there a software can do this ?

Is there a software can separate a MP3 file to 2 channel (independent to each other) audio file ? If you are confused by what I said,pls excuse my broken english.What I mean is , for instance,channel L is the song and channel R is the song .(I hope this made my point clearer),It's useful for my english study,coz i can store almost 2 times larger of size study meterial into my pity 128M MP3 palyer.

please help me !

what if you encode your audio files as "mono" ? they will take -half- of the space having only one channel :)

let me see if i'm understanding correctly.

you want to take Song A and Song B

in ONE MP3 file. Song A is on the left audio track, and Song B is on the right.

that way you can store twice as many?

the only way you would be able to do this, would be to take your MP3's convert them to MONO (instead of stereo) if you try and grab just one channel (either right or left) of most songs from the 70's newer, you'll miss out on quite a bit.

once you have the songs in MONO you can use a sound editor to join them into a STEREO MP3.

there are a few problems with this.

1. Loss of quality

2. Only able to use one ear at a time

3. If songs are not exactly same length you will have dead space at the end of the shorter of the pair

4 Time consuming (this is not a common practice, so there is probobly not a program that will do the work for you)

I doubt it . actually if i encode my audio files as "mono" their size were almost the same as "stereo" (under the same bitrate)

first I wanna give my thanks to ja450n,thank you for taken so much time to help me solve the problem.

you got my point very clear , just one thing left that is : the mp3 files i intented to do with this were English-language-teaching-programs,not songs.so for the " problems with this " as you listed above , "1.Losss of quality & 2 Only able to use one ear at a time" will not be problems any more as well as i can hear the voice clearly ,i will not request it to be "HI-Fi". as for problem 3, yes it is a very time-consume process,but i will try to make it as even as possible. problem 4, i will get a lot of fun out of it I guess, don't it just what "DIY" means ?

if your looking to pack a bunch of stuff onto a limited 128MB, and it's only

speech related audio, you can take quite a bit of size of the files by reducing the BitRate

do a google search for MP3 Bitrate Converter, and you'll get quite a few programs.

also, converting to MONO should reduce the filesize.

i don't know if it will cut it in half, but any little bit helps.

hehehehe of course. If you just set -mono- the converter will use the full bitrate for only one channel... you have to set mono and -halve- the bitrate, you don't need double quality [ I just thought it was obvious ;) ]

I use Dietmp34musics bitrate changerAdvancd wma workshopxing encoderlame(for high bitrate music) etc.

all my speech related audio were MONO, and usually at 64k bitrate,in my point of view that is the most appropriat bitrate for Speech-Related-Audio,higher is waste of storage while lower the quality of the sound is unstandalbe and will hurt your hearing function in the long run.

from the answers above from both of you 2 i understand that's No such a software can do what i wanna do . that's what i want to know from this thread.

I have doubt with this point of view again.you think a "MONO-32K bitrate mp3file "can have the quality of a "Stereo-64K bitrate mp3file" ? from my early experience and my experiment just before i post this post,the answer is no.absolutely no.

but the thanks is still the same.
