[Mod] TabExtensions Mod for Firefox 1.0 Final

UPDATE:

Latest Release is on Page 3...

Also, check out my guide available in the Application Skins forum.

#248639

Thanks a lot ! The TabExtension mod hasn't be updated for months, it's nice to have a recent version :)

#248646

yeah but for me it doesn't work.

#248670

erm.. how do you install it?

#248679

i dunno about the rest of you, but this has LOTS of errors. i cant goto any advanced setting of TBE without crashing, it doesnt restore tabs, it makes compactmenu not work, it makes my adblock not work, and well it pretty much messed up everything. nice try, though.

#248691

This mod works for me absolutely great! Without any scratch (so far ;p ) GREAT JOB Acaeris!! I wonder who's going to mod compact menu for 1.0 with an apple logo?? Anyone??

#248714

For those having problems, I'm not sure how to fix them but make sure you have followed the instructions.

Update Firefox to Firefox 1.0 Final

Update TabExtensions to the Latest Version

Then search your system for TabExtenstions.jar, you need to overwrite the version in the Documents and Settings folder NOT Firefox's /Chrome/Extensions

I am using this now and the only thing broken in colour changing but that has never worked with the skin I use.

#248720

i know how to do it... but i dont know why it does that for me. shrug.

you're using tbe 1.13.2005012101?

Riot try out the same but with this ver. of Tabextension

well we found the reason it doesnt work. that is NOT the latest version. i was using the latest 1.13.2005012101, this mod is version 1.12.2005010801 -- you might want to update your instructions man.

Works fine here, but I already had my own working mod of hills's Tabbrowser Extensions's mod. I just replaced the 'tabbrowser.css' located in /skin/classic/tabextensions with the one found in hills's mod for Firefox 1.0PR (this solves the issue with the close button being located on the right side of the tab). Then I did the same with 'tabextensions.xml' located in /content/tabextensions to fix the Font color/type and some other small details. After that I put everything back in the jar file and everything worked perfectly except for one thing. Whenever I open too many tabs, some mysterious vertical black lines appear in some of the tabs. Sadly the same problem happens with Acaeris's mod but then again, it doesn't bother me as much as the tab text color/close button problem did.

yes thats what i did as well, i posted instructions in a few other threads. that always worked best for me :) this works nicely, but you have to have an older version of TBE.

#248738

#248751

This is info you may want to pass on to Mozilla because the updater couldn't find it, checked yesterday before I made the mod.

i dont use firefox updater, i go to the website.

http://piro.sakura.ne.jp/xul/tabextensions/index.html.en

care to mod the newest one? :)

#248759

I'll try, but the XML file doesn't seem to be the problem this time...

EDIT: Would help if I replaced the original with the modded version. I've uploaded the new version.

#248851

Thanks Acaeris, that was the issue, thanks again for uploading the working version of the xpi file :)

#248901

Works great. I was having issues with another tabextensions.xpi but I uninstalled that and installed this and it works just as good as new! Thanks a lot man. :)

#250116

I'm using FireFox 1.0 not PR. Can I use TabBrowser Extension v1.12.2005010801 with it?

Can anyone give me the download link of tabextensions_en.xpi of that version?

I'd like to try it with hills skin.:slant:

Thanks.

#252310

You can patch TabExtensions yourself.

Download the latest .xpi - Don't install it (use Google to find it)

Use Winzip to extract it to a folder

Use Winzip again to extract TabExtensions.jar to a subfolder

Download my mod .xpi - from the posts above

Use Winzip to extract it to a different folder

Use Winzip again to extract TabExtensions.jar to a subfolder

Copy the Skin folder from my mod to the latest version (overwrite all the files in it)

Copy the TabExtensions.xml file from the /content/TabExtensions folder from my mod to the latest version

Recompress the subfolder as TabExtenstions.jar and overwrite the one in the latest version .xpi folder and then use Winzip to compress that as TabExtensions.xpi and open it in Firefox.

@Acaeris: Thanks, I've modded v1.13.20050131 with your file successfully, and it works beautifully with hills theme. Thanks again, it's an amazing experience.;)

(I never realized that .xpi files can be open with Winzip)

Thank you for posting this, the important part for people are the instructions as I wont be able to post a mod for every update so it's nice that someone has understood my instructions easily.

EDIT: Just noticed that there is an error with the mod, if a page title is too long the tab breaks and you can't use it properly, I'll look into it and hopefully post a solution soon.

#252398

like it doesn't work for me properly! :( I've got lots of bugs, for exmp. Site descriptions gets out from the tab to another and cannt use middle click to close tabs. Hmm I wonder why?
