Polaroid Avatar Template

Hi,

I did a new avatar for myself and as I have seen the other released templates, I decided to do one myself.

It's quite easy to bring in you own picture and name:

1a. Have the font installed (I use Frutiger Linotype for the ava) (if you dont have: download & install: font 1 Font 2 and font 3 - You may need all of them)

1b. If you don't have the font but don't want to download, simply use another (lol - what an idea, isn't it? lol)

2. Open the .psd with Photoshop

3. Edit the top layer Titled "username" with the Text-Tool

4. Open the Image you want to include in your avatar, select and copy it, close the source-file and

5. Paste it into the Layer titled "Image-Layer"

6. Transform the pasted image to your like

7. Go to File - Save for Web and save it as 24bit png with Alpha

that's it - have fun.

Really nice idea. Small enhancement: Polaroids come with some bend out of the camera and need to be flattened - perhaps you can produce a 3d rotated bent version? So that the glare pwnzrzpat added needs to be shifted to the middle?

1. @pwnz: sorry, but it was written down near your username on a-s :-p

2- @herd: Your right, but I like it this way, since I created this for use with a cool image - in fact, the image on it is more important than the shape. (and the gloss on the birthday-one is added by hand, which could easiely be done by everybody, there are lots of tutorials to do so)

Thanks a lot Pichfl......especially for the directions to go along with it as I am not the best with Photoshop and seem to always do something dumb when making these avatars so that mine doesn't look as good as everyone else's.

I was considering using your template Tricky, because it also looks very nice, but by the time i finally got off my lazy butt to make an ava, pichfl released this one and it was fresher but to me yours comes in a very close second, imo. :cool:

hey I completely agree - this is a cleaner and sharper look, which contrasts nicely with all the aqua we have here.

Psh, sorry man. Once i change my avatar, i ain't changing it again for at least 4 months. Too much work to open PS and work on a av. You know the saying, time is money.

But I do like this one, though the gray color kind of stricks me odd.
