Aqua-Soft ForumsPicasa 2 has been released by Google. I can't find a change-log but the entire program has been reworked with, from what I can tell so far, there is now RAW support, much improved editing features (such as auto straightening, auto contrast/color/lighting, the ability to tune in detail highlights and shadows, new effects such as sharpen and sepia, the ability to back up your photo library, create a collage, and much improved album editing and management abilities.

wow! the original was great but this goes way beyond what they had. So many new features and its FREE!
this is very nice. i hope there will be a osx skin for this soon.
Does the old aqua skin work with v2?
It's hard to judge - but I think it is faster than the first, takes about one quick scroll through your entire collection for everything to load, and after that it scrolls very smoothly. Some great new visual effects too, such as during slideshows and a great rotating animation.
Good to hear it,but does the Google purchase the Picasa's Company and release it as a freeware??
Yeah, but they did so a while back. Hopefully will remain free for a long time.

the only doubts I have are for its CD policy... if I make CDs, I don't want picture on my harddisk... but the Import command copies them back
It's good to see Google are still behind the projects they buy - not like some companies who just buy them up to get rid of the competition ... no names mentioned.
After using it in my gf's pc, i really hope Steve Jobs has investigated this before launching iPhoto5, there are sooo many things they could improve upon.
At the moment, imho Picasa 2 > iPhoto ... It saddens me >_<

well, ya, cool to see google let not die this horse, but sadly they did a step back in interface-design. i like the version 1 buttons for example much smoother. but hey, this baby is hopefully still skin-able. hehe
