[help] Double Programs at Startup

Ok, this one has me puzzled, so I figured I'd ask a large group of people who probably know better than I do... namely you guys. ;)

So, I was moving things around on my Start Menu, putting things into groups, deleting old program shortcuts, that sort of thing. Well, I accidently deleted the "startup" folder. No big deal I thought, I'll just make another. So I do, I put my shortcuts back in it and eventually, when I reboot, I now have 2 copies of everything start up. 2 copies of YzDock, 2 YzToolbar, 2 copies of Norton AV, etc.

I checked the folder, there's only one shortcut. I check the startup folder under "all users" to see if there were duplicates. None. I ran msconfig to see if multiple instances were starting at startup and there was only one copy of each.

I'm beyond confused.

Any ideas?

Press the Windows Key + "R" (Run Dialog)

Type 'msconfig' (without quotes) and OK

Click the 'Startup' tab. They are probably in there.

Next time if you want a program to start automatically everytime your computer starts. do this instead.

1. go to RUN and type regedit press enter

2. click CUREENT USER then click SOFTWARE, click MICROSOFT, click WINDOWS, and click

RUN.

3. right click and select NEW then click STRING. then type the name of the program and

press enter. then after that right click the name and select modify then the enter the

path of the programs.

4. reboot. then your done.

please don't use startup again for those kind of apps.

but before that i suggest you reformat your pc then install everything then after that. install FlyakiteSP2 then FlyakiteOSX. you can download FlyakiteSP2 www.osx-e.com

good luck.

Thanks for the replies guys,

Wizard, I took a look through msconfig and the startup tab, each program only appears once but two copies are still loading.

Ataleser, I don't have the "run" folder you mentioned inside the "windows" folder. I have "Current Version", "Shell" and "ShellnoRoam". And I'm not sure what installing Flyakites pack would do for solving my problem. I have used it in the past and liked it a lot, but I think the problem is more windows system file based at this point and messing with it further might make it angry. ;)

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm just going to reinstall Windows at this point. I've had a few other problems too, and I think a nice clean install would probably help.

Try downloading this program-- StartupRun , by NirSoft (nirsoft.net).

See what shows up there. And, of course, reformat if you really have to :P (remember, reformatting should always be your FIRST resort).
