[help] converting mac icons

I'm using stuff it 8.5 and axialis iconshop, but the way discribed here does not work. I guess iconshop can't read the files because I can't change the properties as I could in stuffit 7? does anybody know what I've got to do?

Ok, I used stuffit 7 and there you can change your preferences so that doesn't Convert Text files to Windows Format, Saves Macintosh Files in MacBinary Format and doesn't Add File Extensions. I can't do this in 8.5 anymore but when I extract the files, they've still got some KB. When I open these files in iconshop it says that it can't read the file. the archives aren't corrupt also.

You cannot open .hqx archives? Is this the prob? If yes, just delete the extension .hqx, and you're done. For example : xxxxx.sit.hqx---->xxxxx.sit. The archive will be extracted just fine.

no, that's not my problem. stuffit opens it, but it can't extract them in a way that allows me to open the files with iconworkshop.

What type of files you see in archive (i mean, extensions of those files)? If they don't have an extensions, but have a size, just add an extension .rsc to these files. It should work.

yes, i had the same problem also, it was extracting a whole bunch of 0kb files and the icons in the form of .rscs, but i just realized that you have to just remove teh lats s from teh extention and it should work, btw dont forget the convert the files to .ico from .rsc so all of your apps can use them
