Um, I'm a bit confused here. Have you obtained a permission from COTL GUI Studio to release this skin along with the permission from ijaxx to use his theme as a base? The readme file doesn't make that clear to me since it only says it was based on the OS X Theme and on the skin made by ijaxx followed by a 'Thanks to' section which cites 'em both.

Also in COTL GUI Studio website, they've included a short notice:

Terms of Usage:

Contents of the disk image or guiKit files may NOT be distributed separately; it must be kept intact with all accompanying files. All content except where indicated otherwise is ©2004 by Rey Galza. All rights reserved. All included files may not be modified, reproduced or distributed, in part or in whole except for personal desktop use. By downloading any file from this site you are agreeing to be bound by these terms.

And considering they did not allow their theme to be ported to Windows as a whole, I don't quite see why they'd allow parts of it to be used in a WinAmp skin.

I drew all the elements seen on the screenshot & in the theme, so no permission needed (if you like I can post a PSD here). Or maybe I have to get a permission for using the colors they've used? Don't think so. Or have I to gain the permission if i used the idea? I think 'big thanks' is quite enough.

What made you think I'm using a theme *ported* by someone? That I'm not known over here doesn't make difference if I can make a theme or not.

As it goes to ijaxx, I think naming &linking him is enough too, because I didn't etirely used any part of the code. Whole code have been modified. Some parts are just the default, but NOT any by him completely, maybe 25 lines totally.

Finally, you can CONTACT all the guys and say everything to them but I don't think ANY of them will anger or will ask to remove the stuff I've created.

Still, I won't ask any permissions, naming inspirators is enough from my point of view !

you are creating and naming a skin based entirely on COTL's work.. If you drew it yourself or not the skin looks like his. There for you would need to obtain permission which you blatently dont care...

So that would make this a contender to be locked up here as well as deviant art if they get word of it..

Again I dont care if you drew it or not, It is and looks exactly like his... Permission is needed and he will not grant it.. He doesnt want his themes ported to Windows...

So in closing you should take the link down. And just keep it for yourself no matter how good it looks and no matter how much you want to share it...

As for saying there is a backdoor to spread the rest of the theme, thats just downright disrespectful to the original themer... And I personally think thats bull$hit.. You should be banned just for the disrespect you obviously dont have for the whole theming community in general..

Excellent work! Needless to say, there is nothing wrong with him creating a skin based off of eXeC. No one cares if you create themes for something based off of a real theme... did anyone b:tch about permission when we gained Lou's AveTunes skins? People said "nice work", not OMFG!!! IT"S CALABI & SIRO. PERMISSION!!!!ONE!!!1!1. Same goes to the thousands of other skins for Winamp, AveTunes, WMP, etc. Stop yer complaining and enjoy this excellent piece.

My only request is an AveTunes skin, but this is great alone.
