I don't know whether it works with RedHat... But I think not without some modifications at the kernel. So, it's difficult...
You could export it to Windows XP but without this animation.
@all
Thanks ![]()
@contrasutra
Since SuSE 8.2 there is a full graphical bootscreen (without text messages). You can see the original bootscreen here.
i'm running XP with that exact same boot screen, but without the throbber animation... there should be a way to add the animation to XP... if people can clone the mac gui, docks, browser and iApps, someone will clone the bootscreen too... eventually
Wow thatis soooooo cool
mind telling us how you did it or somthing?
cause i know there are Graphic bootscreens in mandrake.. for example in mandrake 8.0
it had a Mac os 9ish like boot where it has those icons that appear at the bottom to tell whats loaded... i think it was called Auara
and then mandrake switched to a graphic with a loading bar and Text going through a graphic table.... but this is cool!!!
it be great to know the workings behind this bootscreen!!!

@bolero
You need time to understand the config files and try it out...
With SuSE Linux 8.2 it's easy, because there is already a full graphical bootscreen. I had only to change the picture and modify the configuration files to display this animation (instead of the status bar) and change the color. I had to reboot my system 100x to see what happend after a modification of a file... ![]()
I don't know what Mandrake uses to display a full graphical bootscreen. Maybe you should look in "etc/bootsplash" and tell me whether there are any files etc.
hmm thansk for the info bud,
all i know is linux has a program for Bootscreen themes.... umm im not sure what it uses to displayer.. ill find out n the future!

apply recompile kernel and you are "all set"
A different approach using LILO: http://www.gamers.org/~quinet/lilo/help.html
I actually perfer Text Boot in Linux, because I like to know all the problems Im getting with my computer.
contrasura, you can have both at the same time... look here: http://www.rocklinux.org/mailing-list/rock...2003-1/439.html
That is a nice boot Pille. Now cut the loading time!
OMG that is just beautiful. Someone here has to be able to create something like this for windows. So many talented people here, I hope one of you can pull it off!
Great work there Pille!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]()

the command 'dmesg' shows you the boot messages when in a shell. it that doesn't work try: find / -name "boot*log*" to find the boot log on your system.
