[help] Compatible Internal DVD Burners
i'd be surprised if a standard one doesn't work. try tigerdirect.com or newegg.com or even poweron.com
The Apple Superdrive is just a Pioneer DVR-10x. That should work best with a Mac.
You can always check to see if a certain model is compatible by using
Ummm..The apple super drive is more then just a pioneer drive. Its firmware has been flashed from factory to apples specs, which is why its able to burn right from Itunes and the finder. Just slapping in a drive means you lose that ability. You could use a third party software (toast, FBR, etc) but this still wont burn from the finder or iTunes. If you are looking at wanting to use just any drive, you want to patch the firmware, make it think its apple and the only software made is donationware. Its called PatchBurn! and will create an abstaraction layer in software for the firmware of the drive and works with about 95% on all drives in iTunes and the finder and throughout OSX.
Heres a link and don't forget to give the developer a donation, as you will see how much work went into the program.
