Aqua-Soft Forumsalong my searches in skinning my system, i stumbled upon this website. up until this time, i had been using DesktopX to design my own interfaces. Then the aero visual style came along and i decided to take that for a spin. after a while, after seeing some screenshots of the new mac os (the last i used a mac was back in the days of black and white screens...ah, good memories) interface and they amazed me. suddenly i wanted a mac.
i must admit, i have been a pc user for going on 10 years now but i still remember my first computer being a behemoth of a system known as the apple IIe. with it's suitcase keyboard and radioactive green screen staring at me i'd hack away at it but there wasn't much in the way of style when it came to these things.
back to the present, and the interface has a decidely futuristic retro feel to it with the minimal b&w system icons and the illustrator's-eye on design. it's definitely a system for artists and that is what i like about it. it has an aesthetic to it that windows xp can't seem to grasp or handle. but being a poor artist, i have to make do with a pc that has seen it's time come and go. (it's time begin roughly around the time bill clinton was in the white house, on his first term, and the world was anxiously awaiting the end of the millenium, which was 5 years away) which brings me to the point of this post.
among those searches, i ran across this guideline desgined by apple to help software developers create their products in the style of aqua. i'm sure it's a mute point but i thought it would be interesting to read nonetheless and help with the newcomers (such as myself) begin skinning applications with aqua in mind.
