It's funny to see that decision. Someone posted a preview saying that there will be good themes for everyone and he's made people waiting for this damn good theme (I must admit that it is a good good theme). And one they he comes up and say: "oh no there will be no ports for other platforms it is only for mac" Seriously, don't you feel a bit guilty for that? for making people waiting for a never come theme???? I know that I'm wrong to argue with artist's decision and I could get warned but I must say what I have to. Come on, you've just made 2 themes mate, do some more work till you're a bit more famous and you can be that arrogant. WTF, I swear if I can port this theme, I will distribute to anyone asking for it, I don't care your F**** creative thingie!!!!

Well, if they're really joking, then they seem to have picked up a strange sense of humor. I don't mind about them not doing a Windows port, it's just that they have given the ppl here so much to wait for and now they are taking it away without any explanation (not that they have to give any explanations, but it would simply be something responsible to do, in my opinion at least).

It seems that this guy (ESXXI), even though he is brilliant, will be the new COTL.
Now, dont' misunderstand what I'm saying, ESXXI is doing a great job, his skins look awesome and he perfectly has the right not to allow his themes to be ported.
HOWEVER, there is something that I don't understand. Why do you post this preview on a website where most people are windows users? As duyvan said, that can only lead people to get frustrated...
That's like parents who would show nice stuff to their son saying "Look, it's awesome, istn't it? but ya know, it's not for you"

I'm really tired, and don't feel like doing a long post.. So I'll keep this simple.
• Niqu was originally intended to be ported, Bz had been working on it well before it was ever previewed anywhere.
• Over the past few months, I've increasingly been viewing the way Lutetium was ported and received by users with displeasure. Therefore I decided to keep Niqu, and future themes, Mac only. Us Mac users don't get a lot, so we treasure what we do. If you and others cannot handle that idea, then that's your problem. Not ours.
• I'm also highly displeased with how Windows looks when themed anyway. It's ugly. It's painful to watch someone (no matter how talented) cut up your work.
• It, frankly, amazes me at the "give give give" thoughts of (most) users. You want want want. You expect. And then 99% of you don't give back. Know how many donations I got from Lutetium? None.
• I'm not aiming to become 'famous,' I simply wish to offer my talent for making enjoyable looks. Many people look at it wrong; you don't do themes to become rich or famous, you do them to show off your abilities. To say to potential employees 'Hey look what I can do.'
• No, you won't distribute it because you'll be breaking the copyright of my work. My icons and wallpapers (when packaged) are served via a Creative Commons License. My themes are not.

I don't think lots of people will be happy to hear that. Customizing windows is ugly? But, you know mate, this is a windows customization website. Most of the guys over here try to customize their computer to make it look like OSX.
The prurpose of such a website is to put together all aqua lovers. They may be Windows Users, OSX users, Linux users, that doesn't matter. They like aqua. Saying "customizing a pc is ugly" is not something to say, especially on this forum. You chose the wrong forum to post such a comment.
Know how many donations I got from Lutetium? None.
This website is full of great artists: Danimator, Flyakite, AndreasV, Siwu and many other...
Have you ever read that their intention was to make some profit? This website's purpose is to deliver great work on a freeware basis. Don't expect to get some money over here, coz you won't
I understand where you are coming from. However, you forget that that no matter how ugly it looks to you, a theme like Niqu is vast improvement for us, the people who can't afford a Mac, and helps make the operating system become much more usable. I don't see how it hurts you to have your work ported. When you say you got zero donations, does that include from the Mac community? Remember that the Windows community got it off KoL's Deviantart and Bz' downloads, perhaps they didn't know where to donate? I will respect your decision, and I respect you as an artist, so this is all I'll say on the matter.

Well, then keep your little treasures to yourselves, as I said - I don't mind. But I know a lot people here do mind, mainly because you made them expect something you are now saying they will not get.

This new "show-off-abilities" thing is something new to me, because I thought that this boards were intended to be a place for people to trade ideas and benefit from each others talents and skills.
The "give give give thoughts" are a direct result of your announcement - this is, after all, what most people expect to get here - visual enhancements for their desktops (WINDOWS desktops, as someone allready pointed out).

However, how would people judge me if I went to a mac website and said"Look, this is a wonderful theme, but I will not release it for you mac people, because your interface is ugly"...

The majority of the people who are posting here have probably never created something and thus do not understand how it is to see something that you work on and spend many many hours on cut into pieces and made to fit something that it was never intended for.... Niqu and Lutetium were built for osx not for windows. I did my best giving what i have to work with to make a good windows port... but there are shortcomings. It is like like taking the mona lisa and trying to fit it into a 5x7 frame. Sure you can call still call it the Mona Lisa.. but ittl look like ****. Do you think that Da Vinci would have been happy about that?
My point is that we all need to step back and realize that this isnt the end of the world. There are many great themes and ultimately it really doent matter if you are stuck using Luna for all of eternity. Your computing experience will NOT change your life. Sure its a great theme and I with Rick all the best but it isnt worth all the flame bait stuff. Ease up.
Now lets get this ship back on track and provide the constructive criticism that NIQU deserves..

That same argument can be used the other way. If its not a big deal, then why not just release it to windows users like originally planned? We are the driving force behind most this site.
I dont understand why people offer things for free and are dissappointed when they dont get donations. When did money become a measure of gratitude?
Instead of looking at it like you work getting chopped into pieces, think of it as people trying to appreciate your work without spending thousands. Not everyone can afford to go to the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa, so we have to view it in photos or replicas even though they dont give the original justice. Not that a skin really compares to Davinci's art.
Pe7er was telling me that it was a joke but now it seems that it's the truth. If you guys think that I don't respect artist's decision, esXXi's to be precise, so he doesn't respect everyone expecting for that theme either. You said you didn't expect to earn money with your theme so why are you complaining about donation??? And you're not the only one here who feel tired, I and other are tired of your bahaviour too...
Remember that you haven't released this theme yet, so if anyone here could release a WB or Msstyle, there would be no copyright problem for them

Personnaly i do like PCs and I do like macs. I own a PC and I'm on the verge of getting a mac.
However, i don't go to the windows subsection of a mac emulation website to say that aqua looks ugly. EXXI has the right to think that customizing a PC to look like OSX makes it look like ****, but he shouldn't say it here, even in the mac subsection!
All people here love PCs and Macs, we should all live in harmony without criticizing other interfaces.
