[request] Free App that changes files

Is there a freeware app that changes any file icon I want. I mean a single file, not the entire file type. I have found an app that does this, but it is shareware. I'm sorry if there is a thread on this already. Please close this one, and redirect me to the other. Thanks

That would result all files with the *.??? extension to have the same icon. I believe aashish wanted to have a different icon for one specific file.

btw, that's the whole registration process. he never asks for more info and i've not heard from him since.

edit: oh, wait. just one single file? i got gotta get glasses. AFAIK, you can't do that. you can 'trick' windows into doing it, though, by creating a shortcut to the file, and changing that icon.

Icon Phile does not do what aashish wants to do. iPhile only changes an icon for an entire file type, custom Windows icons and folders only. He/She wants "blah.txt" to have a different icon than from "moo.txt"

Geez, I remember the "good old days" when there was no such ******g with interface. There was only one option, the effect of Redmond's graphics (that made W98 shell) fantasy-and-taste crisis. That crisis caught IconFactory aces, when they were makin' XP shell. Now, look - aashish wants diff'rent icon for the same filetype... Word's coming down... Hah hah hah...
