Objectdock 0.90

dont know... i just went to the object dock site...and i saw that the link was heading to objectock090.exe

0.90

----

-Ability to have outward borders on backgrounds added, to allow

for simulation of a shadow on the outside o backgrounds. See

"Default with Shadow" included background for an example.

-Fixed several minor background display glitches.

-Fixed up packaging, full-theme packups will now package current background properly.

-Dock can now be attached to any edge or corner of the screen - see updated config dialog!

-Running indicators are now optional, as is the behavior to only re-run an

already running program by double clicking on it. (Indicators Enabled and set

to single-click-to-rerun by default in this new release)

-Improved icon loading, now can load high-resolution icons associated

with files/folders/etc dropped into dock. Works for all of the above,

including extensions (e.g. retrieving the high resolution icon

for ".txt" files when text file is dropped onto dock) as well as

for system objects (e.g. My Computer, etc)

-The current windows icons can now be used (and now are by default)

for the recycle bin, as well as "Configure ObjectDock" items. Especially

useful for if you are using high-resolution icons on your desktop.

-Several improvments in speed and memory usage

Owh nice addition, I must try this right away. Thanks a lot Jeff. You still da man. :)

#20707

why is it that the one day i dont check this site, something new gets released?

great release, i think its faster than the last one.

and also, is it just me, or do the new docks get released around the same time? first y'z dock, now this? and i believe that moby's dx9 dock will be released this week. keep it up guys. :D

Why does Jeff never announce these things himself. He used to come around, listen to our ideas, give us news. Hes been so private lately. Id love to hear what hes planning. I suppose hes been busy with WB4, but I dont want Objectdock development to stop, and its only gone from .86-.90 in months. I was hoping for something drastic.

I hope everyone is enjoying the new release up now! http://www.objectdock.com - (see anibalin's post for update lists... haha don't worry it's perfectly fine to post an update notification anibalin hah)

Jeff's life is crazyness currently, as is why he doesn't post up himself as much as he would like! :P Hard to get time to do work with everything I've got going on (this college stuff keeps you pretty busy) so whenever I have time to work I try to spend every second working at the actual code rather than doing other stuff. I think you all would prefer that over me posting all the time right? ;) Development will be more productive in the summer when I have more time, don't worry... also on top of everything i've got going on outside of development work, I have a new really cool program on the Object Desktop Network called Keyboard Launchpad, a really easy to use but oh-so-useful (and extendable) hotkey-type program, I make use of it constantly so it's another one of those for-you-for-me things heh. Ok well take home test due tomorrow so gettin to work on that... cya everybody hope you enjoy the new release :D

I wasnt angry at all Jeff. I have no right to "demand" anything from you. I was just a little surprised, thats all. Its great that you are still working hard on this, and that you still keep it free. We are all so grateful for every release (no matter how small) because none of us (except moby and Mr. Y) can do anything even close to this good.

Of course its more important to code, and not chat. But its nice when you stop by. It gives us a chance to thank you for all your hard work.

Whats up for Jeff next? Any new program/dock ideas?

#20814

Hi All,

My first Post - in fact I felt compelled to join the forum just to thank Jeff for OD!

I agree with the the other posters here - the new OD seems faster and more responsive and more stable than previous versions, so Q-Dos for that.

Keep up the great work!

.....now if we could just get a right-click context menu......

Peace,

CJW
