In Xp my desktop icon text is no longer transparent. Anyone seen this before? I did just stop using Y's Shadow. Connected? ![]()
[Help] Weird. Cant Fix.
sometimes happens to me, but i've never used YZ's shadow.
If you don't know already:
the way to change it is go to the system properties then the advanced tab.
From there click on the performance settings and click on the performance settings option.
The check box that controls it is "use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop"
so maybe there is a connection?

Thanx for the tip man.
no probs, hope it worked fine
i had that problem before, that fix never worked for me. I just got sick of it and re-installed windows. But i'm sure that is not the only way of fixing the problem i just got lazy and took the easy way out.
if you have active desktop turned on.. you cannot use transparent background on icon text..
make sure you don't have any active desktop items..
and make sure that "lock web items on desktop" is not checked on the desktop right click menu
There was a thread about 2-3 weeks ago about:
How to eliminate the text on your Desktop Icons...I have gone batty trying to find that dam thread...It has to do with Rt clicking the Desktop icon and typiing Alt + ???, that will then allow Windows to recognize the command??
However, you have to use your keyboard numeric pad...I have (1) Desktop icon that I would like to remove the text...and I have a laptop with 'no' numeric keyboard pad...
I replied in this thread (although not directly related) for I did not want to create a new topic thread for something (I swear that I just reviewed)...
Thanks...lol..yes I searched back to 365 days...
It's alt 0160
Hey Photo678,
Thanks for the reply and the PM...Yes, it is strange for the alt 0160 does not work for my laptop, with the regular number pad on top...unfortunately, i do not have a seperate numeric keypad...
I have read somewhere (lol...but can't remember where) that there is another set of commands...using the Windows char menu to do this, but I just don't recall...oh well..
P.S. Maybe some member with a laptop without the seperate numeric keypad will view this and come to the rescue!?!
