[help] Something Fouled Up My Start Menu

My Start menu (XP Home SP2) has been fouled up somehow. Specifically:

- the All Programs folder does not update when I install new apps

- some odd docs are showing up above the All Programs list

- even though I have a large set of folders and shortcuts set up in my c:Documents and Settings(user name)Start MenuPrograms directory, they don't show up

Did you scan for a virus? That's pretty much all that comes to my mind.

Yeah, just did a full virus and spyware scan (it's an every-other day task for me).

OK, looks like I may have found a fix. There are 2 registry keys that were incorrectly set (how, I dunno), and the odd files that were appearing at the top had their attributes set to be visible, whereas they should be hidden files.

If anyone else is having this problem, let me know and I'll post the link to the fix (don't want to put it up if no one's interested).
