[help] Removeable Disk

Alright I must be missing something, but wen I plug my MP3 player to my computer through a USB (not 2.0) port, it shows up in My Computer with the CD-ROM icon, instead of the Removeable Storage icon I see in both CandyXP and IconPackager. Same goes for my DVD Drive, but that actually is in neither IconPackager or CandyXP.

So.... am I doing something wrong? How could I fix this?

I think you have to go into the porperties of each one and change them to whatever hardware they are.

Well how should it be?

A few resaons why this is happening may depend on what icon program(s) you are using. Some icon programs have it set up so that any additional drive that is not an internal hardrive is represented as a cd-rom, or if it does not have the correct icon to display, it will use one for a default. Or it could be that it already designated certain drive volumes with an icon. I know Iconphile can have the habit of doing this. Meaning for example, whenever there is an (E: ) volume, no matter what type of device it is, it will only represent (E: ) with one certain icon.

I would suggest that, if you havent found any other way to fix the problem, try downloading iconphile if you dont already have it. Open it up and go to Desktop Icons, and then Drives. From there you can change the individual volume icons. Not a quick fix, but should get the job done. Hope this helps.

@Pooky: did you try rebuilding the icons cache?
