Vivendi (which own hole Universal Studios) is in deep problem. They have very much loan and they have not much time to pay back that loan or Vivendi is history. And that is reason why vivendi want sell UMG.

I think that if those both (Apple and Microsoft) make some napster clone, i believe that it's Apple which can make real money on their service. If you dont know, i can tell that one world's popular's website portal www.msn.com is so far only loss to Microsoft.

If Microsoft really wants this, they will come up with the dough to buy it. Apple does not have the financial resources to beat Microsoft. If Microsoft does not end up buying it, i bet they were just trying to drive up the price.
