Thought I would give a link where you can download the new paint shop pro beta. I checked the search and came up negative.

whats the difference between paint shop pro and and photoshop 7?
Photoshop rocks, but is expensive. This is a beta, so almost freeware. This is a good way to get good free software
does this have anything that photoshop doesnt?
I haven't really gotten into it yet, but I can't imagine that it does, but not all of us have $100's of dollars to spend on Photoshop.
For the average user, Paint Shop Pro is easier to use and alot less intimidating than Photoshop. But if you are willing to take the time to learn Photoshop, nothing can compare to it. Paint Shop Pro is more for the home user, while Photoshop is a professional tool.
I love both, but mainly use Photoshop. Occasionally I will use Paint Shop Pro.
I haven't tried any of these betas, but I heard they are time-limited so they really are not "a good way to get good free software." The are just trials. But PSP is well worth the $80-$100 it costs. Look for a leftover version of PSP 7 when PSP 8 comes out and save yourself some money because as I understand it, there aren't any major improvements. The layout has been changed alot and is similar to Photoshop, though.
I just installed it and it said nothing about being a limited time. I used the photo album from jasc and it had no time limit.
Its funny how 14 year olds have $600 for Photoshop. Im convinced part of the reason that Photoshop is so expensive is piracy. Its also my opinion that alot of skinners have pirate copies. (Ive confronted some on this) With the popularity of P2P apps. you can find almost anything. Now dont get me wrong ive done my share of pirating in my day but the mentality that I get from the young kids is "why pay for it when its free" is sad. At least be adult, honest and know its wrong. Sorry for the rant my 13 year old cousin gave me this attitude today. Sad. ![]()
P.S. If anyone wants to call into question if I have Photoshop. Yes. I also have Photoshop Elements. Bought and paid for. If you wanna know if im a "14 year old" look at the poll thread.
ever heard of parents?
That's also why I have:
Five houses
Five cars
Four boats
Six computers
and plenty of $ left over!
Plus I never even said I had Photoshop!
Jackass
Ha! Is always the kids that take it personally.
There were no names mentioned so if anyone took it personally, oh well. Oh and when those things are in your name then you can say "I" have...... Its usually the kids that have to show off and call names. Gotta love 'em. ![]()
What is up with that DHSMaroon13, he never said anything about YOU. I think that jackass comment was uncalled for. That freakin sucks.
Sorry to turn the thread this way J. Ill stop.
I downloaded the PSP im gonna try it today.

Thats the point, home users dont have the money to buy PS or any other program for that matter. If I worked for a company I would pay for software cause I could easily write it off. But I dont so I wont
Plus it's a pain in the ass to buy software on the net when you dont have a credit card.
PS I'm not a kid either. I know 'stealing' is wrong, but so is charging outrageous prices for software. So meh.
Show me one person who hasnt pirated something (either software, mp3 or video) and I'll be really surprised. It's the age of the internet, if it can be had for free, people wont go out of their way to pay for it. Thats a fact.
*disclaimer* I dont pirate, I borrow for indefinate periods of time. ![]()
Chris
So not havin the money for it makes it right to steal it? Buy Elements if you cant afford Photoshop. If you cant buy Elements go without untill you can or find a freeware alternative.
Well, I use PS7 and my big bro uses PSP. I like PS7 more, but my brother likes PSP. I guess its upto the individual..
If you can't afford PS7, then here is an opportunity to be honest with this beta of PSP. That is one of many reasons I posted this. If you don't like PSP, then you could use gimp, which is always freeware.

Well it's not alright, but it's a good excuse
Like you said, if you pirate, at least dont act like it's ok. I'm sure people who pirate know what they are doing. But the internet doesnt have a conscience. So it seems.
I personally use paint for alot of my work. No word of a lie. ![]()

This isnt the piracy thread.
Ive been using PSP8 Beta since Beta 2. Its great, not as good as PS, but its free right now. It has a lot of really good features, and since im not a pro, its good enough for me. It expires July 1, so we get 3 months to use it.
And if you buy PSP7 (which is on sale for $20 at compusa), then you get a free copy of PSP8, so consider that.
Who said that PS is hard to learn? it is one of most "easy" programs I never seen. I am using PS since pre-release version on my old mac, and now "own" the PS7 on my PC. PS is the program that makes me "eat" the few money I recive for my job. In Venezuela the live is very very hard, much work -> few money.
I wish to live somewhere sometime in a place where you get money in a real way: much work -> much money.
I learned PS a lot of years ago, and now, when I got PSP for the first time I find that it is very very "lite" program. You have to do a lot of clicks to make things that in PS you can make with 2 clicks. Anyway "tastes and colors", I luv PS.
I have always used Photoshop for image editing work, get used to it and since I can do everything I want with it, I believe I'll continue using it.
It is true that PS is a professionals directed app but it also true that it is not very hard to star from scratch, so in my opinion PS suites the user's demands.
In addition to PSP, there is a trial version of LViewPro that is awesome. It has lots of features, and the trial version never ends... right now, I am on day 178/20... LOL
