[HELP] Problem with soundcard

Hi guys,

I have this stoopid problem with my soundcard / soundcard drivers.

I noticed it about the time that I plugged a router into my PC that I had

bought previously that day. Now my PC has no sound and when I go

to [Control panel > Sounds and audio devices] it tells me

"no audio hardware". However, in the device manager all the hardware

is installed with the correct (Up to date) drivers and it says theyr

working. Ive tried everything, I even went into the directx config dialog

and clicked on test audio hardware and it told me that there is no driver.

Ive also uninstalled and reinstalled the driver about 50 times and Im

fed up.

If someone can help Id be verry greatefull,

The soundcard is a SiS 7012 on windows xp sp1.

have you tried unplugging the router? perhaps there's an irq conflict...?

Its been unplugged ever since, it was only plugged into my PC for about 5 mins

so that I could configure it and then it was unplugged.

ummm...is that card onboard or pci? if it's pci, try reseating it. if it's onboard, try disabling, powering up then down, then re-enabling.

it's also possible that the sound card is just dead. all the connections are there so it's kind of there, but maybe a dead capacitor or i.c. on the board.

The card is onboard, and its not burnt cause it beeps (through the card, not just

the PC speeker) whenever an error happens. Its also been powered down many times

by now. I even thought maybe something was wrong in the bios so I reset it to

the defaults, still same thing.

i'm not 100% positive on this (maybe 75-90%) but the little speaker on your mobo i'm pretty sure is NOT controlled by the sound card. like when i'm building a new system, i get the beebs even before i've installed the sound card drivers. so to me, i'm not convinced that you can rule out the soundcard as not being faulty. for testing, maybe you can get your hands on a pci card...?

try borrowing another person's cheap soundcard, they are only $15 for a crappy one. or, you can try (i don't recommend it) reinstalling the whole system or try reinstalling the soundcard.

I know, read what I said lol. The beeps were coming through the sound card

not just the little speaker on the mobo. And I fixed it now btw, stupid me. It was

all my fault :S I turned of a few services that were needed for audio :slant:
