Does the real OS X dock have a shadow, I really don't think so. And to whoever this may concern, when updating your dock, only replace the .exe and .dll files, the reat is always the same. ![]()
@nrzero, I highly suggest you do what Mr. Yamaguchi says in the readme. Do a clean install, I have beta tested 0.7.0 for 2 months now and I can testify that you will run into problems if you don't. The dlls, docklets, exe and the ini files have all changed. I'm not sure about the OSX dock having a shadow but he threw in the ability for those who asked.
@whoever, so much for Stinky ****ie
Thanks guys ![]()
Damn this new version is awesome. Thanks a lot. ![]()
NOW y'z can you implement running programs????? ![]()

Thanks KaosAD!
Wow this version is great. You can essentiall put the dock anywhere you want on the screen, I imagine that must be useful for people with multiple monitors\widescreen ones. I only noticed one slight bug, if you choose to lock the dock, and you accedentily try and drag an icon, the dock will crash, or at least mine did (that was the first time yz dock has ever crashed on me) pretty good for beta software, now I wish I could say the same thing about microsoft.
No, it doesnt work w/ dual monitors, it will just stop at the first monitor, Mobys does 2 though. ![]()
well... After testing for awhile (about a week) all I have to say is, I will back to 0.6... This new version looks (a lot more) less smooth than 0.6. I know that the benchmark will show more fps but that is a test... A 'theorical' and on the best cases fps. But on diarly use you will note that value (showed in the benchmark) is absolutely unreal. Actually, if you look the benchmark note that the program 'cache' all the icons showed and takes all the resources that can to show the best fps that can... But on the 'real' use that (as I said early) isnt like that.
I like more Mobydock. Looks more (a lot more) smooth than yzdock... But it needs some specials extras (like DX9 running, 32bits?!) and isnt so configurable (like yzdock is). I mean, you can move the the dock up to the top but isnt running on the top... And that is more evident when you have the autohide option... But thats mobydock...
Thats why I return to 0.6.
The one thing that keeps me away from Y'z dock is the beautiful implementation of running programs in Mobydock. You click the icon in the dock to minimize/maximize the program just like in OS X. Love that, and if Mr. Y would just include that feature I would give this dock a shot.
i think it would be a good feature too, but he should let you be able to disable it... i can't help but think that the reason i use yz is cuz it is the only one that doesnt have that. I kinda like using the start menu as well (am i going crazy or what?) I use yz instead of a quick launch bar. I don't know about the rest of you, but my computer isnt skinned for aqua like it used to be. I will stay on thesse boards though for the rest of the skinning aspect, and because the people here are always so willing to help! Thanks aqua-soft and all of the developers! ![]()
I love this new version of Y'z Dock, the thing I like the best about it is it's system icon support.
I notice if I have a program reshacked it uses the appropriate 128 icon out of it automatically.
On my computer it's fast enough for me most of the time. I just hope and pray that when or if he does add tasks he does it in a OSX fashion rather than moby\objectdock fashion.
I might be in the minority when I say this but. I really don't like how ObjectDock and Mobydock have their tasks. I want the task area more integrated with the shortcut area as it is in the real dock. This takes more advantage of the arrows.
The task should appear amongst the shortcuts with a arrow if it's not there as a shortcut and dissapear when closing the program unless it is a shortcut. This is how I was hoping moby was going to do it in his DX9 dock with everyone saying it's going to be perfect.
This would also make Y'z Dock more unique instead of just being like the other 2 docks.
how does OSX handle multiple instances if running program appeared as shortcut with arrow?
Actually, there aren't instances on the mac I don't think. The Window entry in the menubar handles the multiple windows in one program. As if the whole desktop was the MDI interface.
However, on windows the dock could use a menu when you click on the icon that has the instances listed in it like task grouping on the taskbar.

and that is why I think moby implement the ignore list. so, that, multiple instances program can be left with separate icon in the taskbar, while program that you want it to be incorporated with the shortcut, you can just add it to ignore list. it won't appear in task icon anymore, but only the arrow appear under the shortcut icon. you have to do it manually though, but you need to do it only once. after that, it is all osx style. maybe you didn't explore new mobydock enough. pardon me if you did that already.

p/s: but I still like your idea, that multiple instances will have popup menu, so that dock will not be cluttered.
I did "explore" that option but still, close but no cigar (no offense).
My method would be more "streamlined". It's not "OSX style" when it's where the minimize area is on OSX with no arrow. Just look at the "real" dock. It does tasks the way I mentioned.

I'm so sorry, I can't understand what you meant by minimize area. But anyway, I don't have mac . *sigh* ![]()
When I say minimize area it means tasks don't go there except when they are minimized (shows a thumbnail then). This is where the OSX dock uses the "genie effect".
A perfect dock would have both this and my idea. But I'd settle for my tasks idea.
ah, I get what you meant.
that is interesting. but it must come along with menu popup for multiple instances prog, otherwise it would be problem to search through opened window to minimize certain window.
I hope moby will implement that, unless yz use dx9 too ![]()
