[Help] Windows DEP

Some stupid Windows DEP thing just started up and it's annoying the hell out of me; I opened MS Word 2003 and registered it (I just reformatted and have been reinstalling apps [My sister's been rebugging my pc with viruses already >_< ]) And as soon as it was completed I got this Windows DEP error message saying that it would shut down the app Windows Explorer because it was doing something malicious or some crap like that so I okayed it and when windows restarted, yztoolbar closed so I reopened it and it changed the toolbar buttons to nothing so I closed the explorer window and reopened it and still the same thing and then DEP started up again, right now it's still restarting every time I open a window (but a bit delayed) but I have closed Yztoolbar too...I'm going to try restarting soon once I close some apps... :slant:

Restarted and everything was going fine and now it just did it again >_<;;

Edit; I disabled DEP but I think firefox was causing the problems, also I can't get onto the https://mozillaupdate site or the extensionsroom one... :slant:

dep was implemented recently by microsoft. dep = data execution prevention. read: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875352

i'd check for viruses and spyware.

Yea, well now I've disabled it but twice so far, explorer just restarted randomly...I'm using AntiVir to check for viruses now and using spybot next when thats done...

EDIT: Okay, now Trillian randomly closes at inconvenient times >_<

is something trying to run malicious code? see if you can pinpoint it by closing programs, disconnecting from the internet, etc.

also, try getting into safe mode to fix it.

i was hit by this. i get virus names mixed up, but i think it's a blaster worm. dunno or some really common virus.

if you have more than one hard drive with windows on each you can set the hard drive with virus as slave and use the other to locate and clean it. that way it won't load any crap at all. did that once, but sometimes security gets in the way.
