Hi Kurt,

I'm an editor at O'Reilly, focussing on books in our popular Hacks series.

Recently, we've turned to many Engadget articles to serve as contributions

to particular books, the most recent being iPod & iTunes Hacks and the

forthcoming second edition of Google Hacks.

As I began preparing the second edition of Windows XP Hacks to send to our

Production department, I remembered your "Turn Your PC Into a Mac"

(http://www.engadget.com/entry/8828351836181248/) and thought it would be a

perfect fit for Windows XP hackers with extreme Mac envy.

We'd like to use your hack in the book. The hack would include your

attribution at the end of it, of course, and we'd put a brief contributor

bio for you in our Credits section. We'd also send you a free copy of the

book when it's released. Would you be interested in letting us use it? If

so, please respond as soon as possible, and I'll send a permissions

agreement. As I mentioned, the book goes to Production soon (Monday,

actually), so this is quite time-sensitive.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and do hope you'll let us use your

article in our newest Hacks book.

If you read the article that was linked in the initial quote, you'll see that Kurt references all the sources for his "hacks" (which are, in fact, all just "standard" tools like ObjectBar and ObjectDock), and one would imagine that these would be kept intact. Otherwise, how would the people find the resources in the first place?
