[Help] Looking for a good Adobe CS Learning book

Hey Digital Artists!

After quite some years of using PS and Illustrator, i have come to realize that i would like to go beyond that i have learnt by clicking here and there.

I am looking for a very good book that you guys can recommend on advanced PS and Illustrator (either both together or separately).

Any help would be appreciated

Those are the ones i have been looking at (recommended by Tim as well), I have them in the shopping kart at the moment...

Just wanted to check whether someone had tried some books on the matter and thought they were recommendation material, i know most of you were born with PS talent but i will need to practice :confused:

I've looked at the books provided by Adobe (they sell really thick tutorials). They cover everything, but they assume that you know absolutely nothing so it is a very slow, tedious read. You learn all of these cool shortcuts for the keyboard though!

EDIT: I can't read. The link Lou gave is the exact same one I was thinking about. Our school got the whole set to help poor, clueless Newspaper people. Pretty darn good book!

Hmm, that book looks like a good one. I may have to buy it as well! If you don't think you have reached the limit of your skill yet seph, I have much to learn as well because you are pretty good! I have been using photoshop seriously for about a year and Im just learning how to do vectors which are very hard and take a lonnnng time.

@Gnome: I heard the same from a fellow designer in my office about those books, but it guess that, since i have never taken any kind of instructions / guidelines on doing things, i might have missed on some stuff (and i could use the reinforcement anyways )

@Juno: You are too kind, i have close to no talent in PS or I after looking at the stuff some of our own members churn out (some in fireworks hehehe )

I am buying those books, i will report back with what i think of them, how does that sound?

I'd suggest you to buy some books about art - with modern paintings, modern classical graphics. Also watch weekly magazines (don't read them), analyze composition, carefully look at the colours (you could even buy something about theory of colour), analyze billboards, advertisements, posters. Use your eyes. Photoshop is just a tool, it's secondary here. From what I've seen in your PS works so far, you need good inspiration, not technics. Of course read all this stuff about Photoshop you just bought, but don't fetishize it
